First Impressions

Volturno31 – Bosco Verticale, Milano sits in one of the most exciting neighborhoods I’ve explored in recent years. You know what caught my eye first? The fact that it’s literally named after those famous vertical forest towers — and honestly, you can see why. The three-star property feels refreshingly modern without trying too hard, tucked into Via Volturno where the old industrial Milan meets the sleek new skyline.

The Porta Nuova Experience

This part of town — the Stazione Garibaldi area — it’s actually become one of my favorite spots to stay. You’re walking distance from those incredible skyscrapers (the Bosco Verticale towers are maybe a five-minute stroll), but you’re also close enough to hear the buzz of Corso Como’s nightlife. The apartment setup here works really well if you want to feel less like a tourist and more like you’re living in the city for a few days.

Living Space and Comfort

What I appreciated most was how each unit feels genuinely livable — there’s a proper kitchen that’s not just for show, and the room layouts actually make sense. I mean, you’re not getting five-star finishes, but everything feels clean and thoughtfully designed. The beds are comfortable enough, and honestly, the Wi-Fi was solid throughout my stay, which matters when you’re trying to plan your days around Milan’s endless options.

Getting Around Milan

Here’s something locals know but guidebooks don’t always mention clearly — Garibaldi station is right there, which means you’re connected to literally everything. Want to hit the Duomo? Easy train ride. Need to get to Malpensa airport? Direct connection. But what’s even better is that some of Milan’s best aperitivo spots are within walking distance, and you can actually afford them because you’re not staying in the city center where prices get ridiculous.

Why Guests Love It

This place works because it strikes that sweet spot between location and value that’s getting harder to find in Milan. You’re in the middle of the city’s most forward-thinking district — surrounded by innovative architecture, great restaurant options, and that distinctly Milanese energy — without paying the premium you’d shell out for a hotel right in Brera or near La Scala. The staff actually seems to know the neighborhood well too, which makes a difference when you’re trying to navigate a city that can feel overwhelming at first.

  • No toilet paper, soap, or basic essentials.
  • A clogged sink upon arrival.
  • Dirty sheets and duvets.
  • Not enough pillows or bedding for 5 people.
  • Laundry from previous guests left behind.
  • Several outlets not working.
  
  We contacted the host (also via WhatsApp) but NOTHING was fixed during our stay. The lack of care and service was shocking.
  
  This stay completely ruined our trip. Avoid this place at all costs.

  What could be improved: Le logement est agréable, mais nous avons trouvé la communication très impersonnelle. Les messages reçus étaient envoyés sans formule de politesse et accompagnés d’émoticônes « attention », ce qui donne une impression assez froide.
  
  Nous avons également regretté l’absence d’informations pratiques : rien sur le tri des déchets, ni sur le fonctionnement de la climatisation (ce qui aurait été utile vu la chaleur de l’été ).
  
  L’enregistrement en ligne n’était pas si simple, et aucune indication claire n’a été donnée sur le montant de la taxe avant le paiement. On vous demande de payer sans annoncer le montant pour permettre de savoir qu’il n’y a pas d’erreur.

  What could be improved: They didn’t provide check-in instructions after we fully paid the reservation. They claim we didn’t fill out the check in form on time, but they sent it to us after their own deadline. This is an absolute scam and this is to be avoided at all times!

  What could be improved: There was a lot of problems in the flat. It is evident that the owner does not make any quality inspection visits to the flat, and is just "happy" with cleaning and key dropping in the box. The lights went off four times during our 3-day stay, and we had to go to an awful dungeon to lift the switch every time. When complained about this issue, the owner said it is OK, and blamed the bad weather! and this was obviously not the reason because the light went off in a rainy day and also in a sunny day. The kitchen sink was clogged and water came out on the floor together with a very bad smell. Also one bath was clogged and we had to shower carefully with little water to avoid floods. When I reported these issues to the owner, he said "please send me photos", instead of going there and fix the problems. Do not rent this cr4p.
