First Impressions

Youhosty – Gioia 1 Big sits right on Via Melchiorre Gioia, and honestly, the location caught my attention before anything else. You’re basically in the heart of the Porta Nuova district — I mean, this is where Milan shows off its modern side with those gleaming skyscrapers. The building itself is pretty straightforward, nothing fancy, but that’s kind of what you’d expect from a three-star place that focuses on getting the basics right.

The Neighborhood Scene

What I really appreciated was how close everything felt. Garibaldi station is literally a few minutes’ walk, which means you can hop on the metro and be in the Duomo area in no time. But you know what’s even better? The Porta Nuova business district means there are tons of cafes and places to grab a quick bite without trekking across the city. I noticed a lot of business travelers around, which always tells me the area is well-connected and practical.

The Room Experience

The room was bigger than I expected — hence the “Big” in the name, I suppose. It’s not glamorous, but it’s clean and functional with enough space to actually unpack your suitcase properly. The bed was comfortable enough, and I slept well despite being right in the city center. There’s a small work area too, which came in handy when I needed to check emails and plan my next day’s wandering around Milan.

Practical Touches

Here’s what worked for me: the Wi-Fi was reliable (always a relief), and the shower had decent water pressure. The staff spoke good English, which isn’t always a given in smaller Italian hotels. I also liked that they had some local maps and restaurant recommendations at the front desk — nothing groundbreaking, but it showed they actually think about what guests might need. The whole place felt well-maintained, just not particularly stylish.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t the kind of place you’ll post Instagram photos of, but it delivers exactly what it promises. The value is solid for Milan, especially considering you’re staying in one of the city’s most dynamic neighborhoods. If you’re here to explore the city rather than lounge around the hotel, and you want to be close to both the business district and easy transport links, it actually makes a lot of sense. Plus, being near Corso Como means Milan’s nightlife is right there when you want it.

  What could be improved: Why do I need to re-login and provide personal information on another platform if I booked accommodation for myself through my account on booking? Due to their incorrectly sent code, I had to contact their service more than 10 times and I entered the apartment after 3 hours of trying and after 10:00 PM

  What could be improved: L’arrivée a été difficile, pas de réponse à mes messages pour connaître la procédure de Check-in. Le mail n’avait pas été envoyé à temps. L’appartement devrait être rénové. Le verrou de porte d’entrée même mérite d’être changé, la porte est peu sécurisée. La climatisation ne fonctionnait pas du tout. Il a fait très chaud toute la nuit, sans possibilité d’ouvrir la fenêtre de la chambre donnant sur un boulevard très bruyant. Et pour finir, nous sommes revenus en France couverts de piqûres de punaises de lit. Donc soit nous avons été piqués dans cet appartement soit dans le précédent.

  What could be improved: The host wasn’t helpful and support at all, I complained about the air conditioner it was poor almost it’s off. The air was very hot! we couldn’t sleep at night. I complained to the agency and the didn’t response at all. After 2 nights i called booking, the costumer service checked me out before; because the host wasn’t responding and she was ignoring my calls and messages. Also, when i arrived to the location for checking in, the host wasn’t there and i waited in the street for 30 minutes! There was no soap for the washer machine. The locked for the apartment was very annoying and so hard to learn, it was an automatic lock. I don’t recommend in this place at all.

  What could be improved: Veliko sporočil s stani upavljalca. Sporočila so bila nekonstistentna enkrt pisalao da taxo plačamo na licu mesta, nasledjič zahteva za plačilo onlome. Dvakrat smo morali opraviti check-in v različen sistem.

  A localização é ótima, a 5/10 min de várias estações de metro, de autocarro e estação central. Apartamento limpo, espaçoso e confortável, 2 quartos, 2 casas de banho e com utensílios na cozinha, perfeito.
