Here’s what I loved about staying here — you’re genuinely in the thick of things without the tourist trap feel. Porta Romana is one of those neighborhoods that feels authentically Milanese, where locals actually live and work. The Porta Romana metro station is literally a few minutes’ walk, so getting to the Duomo or anywhere in the city center is ridiculously easy. Plus, there’s this great morning energy on Corso di Porta Romana with people heading to work, cafes opening up, and that general buzz of a real Milan neighborhood.

The Room Experience

My room was compact but thoughtfully designed — clearly someone understood that in Milan, space is precious. The bed was comfortable enough, and I mean that in the best way possible for a mid-range place. What impressed me was the attention to practical details: decent lighting for reading, enough outlets for your devices, and a small table that actually worked as a desk. The bathroom was modern and clean, though don’t expect a spa experience — it’s functional in that efficient Italian way.

Neighborhood Dining & Daily Life

You know what really made this place work for me? The neighborhood has genuine character. There’s a fantastic local restaurant just around the corner where I ended up eating twice — the kind of place where the owner remembers your order and you hear more Italian than English. The morning routine became walking to the corner bar for proper espresso and cornetto, watching office workers do the same thing. It felt like being part of Milan’s daily rhythm rather than just observing it from a hotel bubble.

Why Guests Love It

This isn’t the fanciest place you’ll stay in Milan, but it gets the fundamentals right. The staff seemed genuinely helpful without being overly formal, and there’s reliable WiFi throughout — which matters when you’re trying to navigate a new city or catch up on work. The parking situation is typical for central Milan (meaning challenging), but honestly, you won’t need a car from this location anyway. For the price point, you’re getting a clean, comfortable base in a real Milan neighborhood with excellent transport connections. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

  Lit confortable. Localisation avec beaucoup de transport en commun aux alentours, des supérettes, boulangerie etc. L’appartement était chaud c’était agréable vu la météo.
  Linge fournit (serviettes..), sèche cheveux également.
  Communication facile avec l’hôte.
  
  What could be improved: Photos mensongères. Aucunes ressemblances avec les photos. L’appartement n’est pas du tout moderne comme pourrait laisser penser les photos. Les murs ne sont pas blanc mais plutôt rose/saumon, les barres dans la salle de bain sont rouges alors que sur les photos elles sont noires. Serrures de la porte de la salle de bain cassé. L’eau de la douche ne s’écoule pas bien. Aucune pression sort des jets d’eau de la douche. Une très grosse déception on s’attend à voir exactement comme sur les photos mais pas du tout.
  L’appartement fait très vieux et pas forcément entretenue.
  La pollution sonore est aussi insupportable, rien n’est insonorisé on entend tout, les voisins, les bruits dehors, les ambulances absolument tout.
  Il y avait également des travaux dans l’immeuble…
  Le sol de la salle de bain est usé et abîmé ça fait pas propre du tout.
  Soit ce sont des photos retouchées soit elles ont etaient prise il y a des années. Très grosse déception je pense que ça ne vaut absolument pas le prix. Vous pouvez trouver des hôtels à ce prix là largement mieux ou des logements.
