The building has this old-world Italian character that immediately catches your eye — you know, the kind of place where you can actually feel the history in the walls. It’s a three-star property, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s basic.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about this spot in Milan — you’re basically in the thick of everything without being on a crazy busy tourist strip. Porta Garibaldi is one of those neighborhoods that feels authentically Milanese, where locals actually live and work. You can walk to the Duomo in about 20 minutes, but you’re also close to the Porta Garibaldi train station, which makes getting around the city (or even day trips) really straightforward.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had this interesting mix of antique touches and modern necessities that somehow worked perfectly together. There’s original hardwood flooring and these tall windows that let in tons of natural light — actually made the space feel much bigger than it probably was. The bed was comfortable enough, and I mean, after walking around Milan all day, you’re not going to be picky about thread counts anyway.

Practical Details

What really impressed me was how well they’ve thought through the practical stuff. The WiFi actually works (which isn’t always a given in older buildings), and there’s decent storage space for your clothes. The bathroom is compact but functional — hot water was consistent, which is honestly all I needed. You won’t find a fancy spa here or room service, but everything you actually need is covered well.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t the kind of place where you’re going to spend hours lounging around the property, and that’s sort of the point. It’s a solid base for exploring Milan without breaking the bank, and the antique charm gives it personality that a lot of chain hotels just don’t have. The staff was helpful without being overly formal — they gave me good recommendations for nearby places to grab coffee and dinner. For what you pay, especially in this part of Milan, it’s honestly pretty hard to beat the combination of character, location, and value.

• Apartment good but big mistakes as no gel/shampoo or no cutlery(at alll) – Alejandro from Spain – 4 November 2025 (7/10)

  What could be improved: The apartment does not provide any kitchen stuff. No forks, no spoons, no pans, no glasses. We could not even cut a pizza. Also, the gel provided is a small portion that it does not even last one shower.

  What could be improved: The host was unresponsive to some questions, the matress was lumpy very uncomfortable, we stayed 3nights with two big towels and two small towels, no microwave or coffee machine, but they do have complete utensils.

  It is a very roomy apartment with nice decor. The apartment was well equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Bed was pretty comfortable too and the staff was responsive.
  
  What could be improved: Make sure to watch instruction video on how to operate the lock, if you’ve never dealt with these types of locks before. There overhead light did not function, so I had to search through the dark place to find a source of light when I arrived.

  What could be improved: Apartment is old and not cozy. Bed was not comfortable as a pillows. Manager wasn’t helpful and it was difficult to find apartments without host, it wasn’t coordinations about Wi-Fi.

  It is a very spacious apartment that is right by the city center. The two bathrooms (each with a shower and a toilet) were very convenient. The operators of the apartment answered quickly and were very helpful!

  So beautiful and traditional…the lady who gave us the keys was a bit grumpy lol, but we had a beautiful stay- would stay here again.
  
  What could be improved: At the end, you have to leave the keys on the fireplace mantle peice which means that you can't use the lift to take your luggage (you need the lift key in order to use lift) so we had to lug our really heavy suitcase all the way down 4 or more flights of stairs, and I had a bad back, so if you're a not very strong lady like myself, you'd struggle alone, or say if you're a wheelchair user – that's a no go, or have issues walking or god forbid young children! I think something needs to be sorted out here!
