Functional Studio Milano Isola District Overview
First Impressions
Stepping into Functional Studio Milano Isola District, you know exactly what you’re getting — and honestly, that’s refreshing. This three-star place doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not, but it delivers on its promise of a clean, well-designed space in one of Milan‘s most dynamic neighborhoods. The lobby’s compact but thoughtfully arranged, with that distinctly Italian approach to making small spaces feel intentional rather than cramped.
Location & The Isola Advantage
Here’s what I love about staying in Isola — you’re close enough to the business district that you can walk to Porta Nuova’s gleaming towers, but far enough away that you actually get to experience Milan like a local. The Garibaldi train station is practically next door, which means you can hop on the Malpensa Express without dragging your luggage across the city. Plus, the neighborhood has this cool mix of traditional Milanese life and newer development that most tourists never see.
The Studio Experience
The room is exactly what the name suggests — functional. I mean that in the best way possible. Everything has its place: a compact kitchenette that actually works (rare in European hotels), a desk that’s properly sized for a laptop, and storage that makes sense. The bed’s comfortable enough, and the bathroom, while small, has good water pressure. You’re not getting marble countertops here, but you are getting smart design that maximizes every square meter.
Neighborhood Life
What really sold me on this area is how it comes alive in the evenings. There’s this little cluster of bars and cafes just a few blocks away where you’ll hear more Italian than English — always a good sign. The morning market on nearby streets gives you a glimpse of daily Milanese life, and honestly, grabbing fresh bread and coffee there beats any hotel breakfast. The Bosco Verticale towers are close enough for Instagram shots, but you’re not paying those inflated prices to sleep in their shadow.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
Look, this isn’t the kind of place you’ll rave about to everyone back home, but it’s the kind of place you’ll quietly bookmark for your next Milan trip. The staff knows what they’re doing, the location saves you time and money on transport, and the studio setup means you can actually live a bit rather than just sleep somewhere. For the price point, especially in a city where decent accommodation can cost a fortune, it’s a solid choice that does exactly what it promises.

Reviews of Functional Studio Milano Isola District
Good – Bogdan from Romania – 16 July 2025 (7/10)
Great location, quiet and easy to get around and overall a good experience.
What could be improved: Tends to get really hot even with the AC on. The bed sheets could be renewed and the sofa refurbished. Even though it is common, please try to repair/unclog the shower drain.Good – Hetan from United Kingdom – 20 January 2025 (7/10)
Great location
Pleasant – Laurence from Sweden – 22 August 2024 (6/10)
The host was very quick to answer and gave the impression that she tried to address the multiple issues we encountered. The studio is located in a lovely area with a market twice a week, it was a delight. We were recommended a Pizzeria which had wonderful food, so we really had a beautiful time. The studio is in a yard which is very private, we spend quite some time sipping coffee sitting on the steps in front of our own door. Very relaxing
What could be improved: The host didn't give me a time for pick up in advance, and when she finally answered after 3 requests (I had to contact the rental agency too), she was 30 min late to the meeting. The studio is very poorly equipped for cooking (kind of no pans, few tools etc). There were ants in the studio, the coffee machine was broken (luckily there was also a percolator) and there was no internet. It seems that there was simply no subscription to an internet provider. The host 'tried' to fix this but besides telling me to restart the modem, she brought me a cable (which was not even adapted to the modem) and then I simply gave up trying and used my own mobile data. Not so cool.Pretty good – Roberta from Lithuania – 13 April 2024 (8/10)
The Isola district is very convenient for visiting Milan and the property itself is really cosy and has all of the facilties necessary. I liked that the kitchen was well equipped and there were even free toiletries included.
What could be improved: I didn't like that the only window was the glass door, meaning that if you'd like to close them with thouse outdoor blinds to feel safer (since the apartament is on the first floor) it would mean that there wouldn't be any sunlight at all and it would be dark in the room. The steps to the bed were also quite steep and not too comfortablePerfect! – Carmen from Netherlands – 29 February 2024 (8/10)
Great appartment, very easy to go to the centre with public transport. Nice area to also eat something in the evening.
Great communication with the host.
What could be improved: You can't leave your luggage, there are some lockers from luggagehero, but it's difficult to find the perfect place to store your luggage. The one we wanted to use was closed and it didn't say it was closed. The location is very good, close to the metro but the apartment/studio not so good, is small the stairs to the bed a – Catrina from Romania – 27 June 2023 (6/10)
The location
What could be improved: Very small space, the stares very difficult to climbWonderful location and nicely arranged small and cute place – Zhivena from Bulgaria – 26 May 2023 (8/10)
The plase was great. It is clean and has everything you would need including a hairdrier, cutlery, a washing machine, a coffee machine, etc. The location is the best thing – this area of Milano is super nice and calm. The place is on the ground floor but in the inside courtyard so it was very calm.
What could be improved: The only thing which was not very great was that the double bed actually consisted of two separate single mattresses which were joined together but during the night a gap opened up between them. Anyway, this was really a minor thing.Very good – Joost from Netherlands – 12 May 2023 (8/10)
Nice studio, has everything you need for a few days.
What could be improved: The lock on the door is stuck sometimes. It's difficult to turn the key & open/close the door of the studio.Superb – Chong from Germany – 22 April 2023 (9/10)
very cosy appartment. You can travel with subway to anywhere easily.
Exceptional – Karolina from Poland – 2 April 2023 (10/10)
i liked everything about it
What could be improved: all was good
