The Porta Nuova area gets overlooked by most visitors, but I actually prefer it to the more obvious choices near the Duomo. You’re close enough to the action — about fifteen minutes by metro to the cathedral — but far enough away that you can grab an espresso at the corner bar without fighting through selfie sticks. The Garibaldi station is literally a ten-minute walk, and there’s this fantastic local restaurant called Da Giacomo that my concierge recommended (locals pack it every night, which tells you everything).

The Room Experience

My room was smaller than American standards but smartly designed — I mean, this is Milan, space comes at a premium. The bed was genuinely comfortable, and they’d clearly invested in good linens and pillows. What I loved was the marble bathroom with this rainfall shower that actually had proper water pressure. The mini-fridge worked perfectly for keeping my morning prosecco cold (don’t judge), and the air conditioning ran quietly all night.

Daily Rhythms

Breakfast happens in a cozy space downstairs — nothing elaborate, but the coffee is proper Italian strong, and they do fresh pastries from a local bakery. I usually grabbed a quick bite and headed out, though the staff was happy to pack something to go when I had early meetings. The Wi-Fi worked flawlessly throughout the building, which matters when you’re trying to upload photos or catch up on emails.

Here’s the thing about Garigliano 8 — it’s not trying to be something it’s not. You won’t find a fancy spa or a rooftop pool, but you will find solid service, clean comfortable spaces, and a location that lets you live like a temporary Milanese rather than just another tourist. The price point makes sense for what you get, and honestly, after staying at flashier places that left me disappointed, this felt refreshingly authentic. If you want to be in the thick of Milan’s business district while still feeling like you’ve discovered something the guidebooks missed, this works really well.

  Tesisin konumu Merkez tren istasyonuna yakındı. Yataklar ve eşyalar temizdi. İki yatak odası olması çok iyi oldu. 4 yetişkin çok rahat bir konaklama yaşadık. Giriş işlemi çok kolaydı. Seyahat günü gönderilen kodla rahatlıkla daireye ulaştık. Güneş alan güzel bir evdi. Çarşamba günü evin sokağında bir pazar kuruluyor. Alışveriş fırsatı bulduk. Sıcak su her zaman vardı. Mesajlara anında dönüş yaptılar. Tekrar gidersem kesinlikle orada kalırım.
