First Impressions

Walking up to Gioia 55, you immediately get the sense that someone really thought about design here. The building sits right on Via Melchiorre Gioia — honestly, one of those Milan streets that feels both busy and residential at the same time. It’s a four-star place, but the entrance has this understated elegance that doesn’t try too hard to impress.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about staying in the Stazione Centrale area — you’re actually close to everything without being in the thick of tourist chaos. Milan‘s central station is literally a few minutes away on foot, which means you can hop on the Malpensa Express without dragging your luggage through half the city. The neighborhood has this authentic feel where you’ll see locals grabbing espresso at corner bars, not just travelers looking lost with maps.

You know what’s nice? There’s decent parking nearby if you’re driving, though honestly, you won’t need a car much. The metro connections are solid, and getting to the Duomo or Navigli takes maybe 20 minutes tops.

The Room Experience

My room was smaller than what you’d find in American hotels, but that’s Milan for you — space is premium here. What they lack in size, they make up for in thoughtful touches. The bed was actually comfortable (not always a given in Italian hotels), and the bathroom had this rainfall shower that worked properly. The soundproofing is pretty good considering you’re on a busy street.

The design feels contemporary without being cold — lots of clean lines and neutral colors, but they’ve added some warmer elements that make it feel less corporate. Air conditioning worked well during my summer stay, which honestly saved my trip.

Dining & Amenities

The breakfast setup isn’t huge, but it covers the basics well — proper Italian coffee (obviously), fresh pastries, and some international options for those who need their eggs and bacon. There’s a small restaurant on-site, though I’d recommend exploring the neighborhood for dinner instead. You’ll find some excellent local spots within a few blocks that most tourists never discover.

Staff here actually seems to enjoy their jobs, which makes a difference. They’re helpful without being overly formal, and several speak solid English if your Italian is rusty.

Why Guests Love It

With a 9.1 rating, this place clearly gets something right — and I think it’s the balance. You’re not paying luxury prices, but you’re getting genuine quality and a location that works for both business and leisure travelers. It feels authentically Milanese rather than like a generic hotel that could be anywhere.

The real win here is that you can walk to Corso Buenos Aires for shopping, catch trains to anywhere in Europe from Centrale, and still feel like you’re staying somewhere with character. It’s the kind of place where you’ll actually sleep well and wake up ready to explore Milan properly.

  There are everything what I need for travel(Dishwasher, coffee machine, microwave, cups. Etc).
  Bed is so comfortable and it was so sweet house..

  We are family visitor and we like the location of the property, its just few minutes walk from the Milano Central Station (basically from Airport to Central Station was just 45-50 mins by airport express train). M3 metro station is just 3 mins walk from the place, 8 mins walk to M2 metro station and 10-12 mins walk to M1 station (near central station). CANTUN bakery and bistro is near the place and we enjoyed the coffee, drinks, and snacks. Minimart is just 2 mins from the place and all the things you need are available. Some other 2 or 3 more restaurants and bistros are along the road. Central station canteen offered multiple options to eat and drink. Communication with the host over Whatsapp was quite convenient and Emma was really helpful and responsive. The bed was comfy although the sofa bed was not that comfortable, but it's still good enough. The drinking water dispenser was provided outside of the rooms at the corridor and it can refill the water bottle anytime. The ice cubes are also provided at the same place. The rooms are accessible by the door code and it's provided prior to the check-in. The room is clean and modern. Since the location is convenient access to the public transportation, it's easy to access many attractions. We will definitely stay at this place for our next visit to Milan.

  What could be improved: Location was fine but it was very much in the downtown city area, not very close to tourist sites. There were 2 metro stations close by so this really wasn’t an issue. Area does have many restaurants close by, Aldi about 4 blocks away.
