Here’s the thing about staying near Stazione Centrale — people either love it or they’re skeptical about it. I mean, Milan‘s central train station area isn’t exactly the postcard-pretty part of the city, but it’s incredibly practical. You can catch trains to basically anywhere in Europe from here, and the metro connections are right there. Plus, getting to the Duomo takes maybe 15 minutes on the M3 line, which beats dealing with traffic if you were staying closer to the center.

The Room Experience

My room was on the fourth floor, and while it wasn’t huge, it had everything I needed without feeling cramped. The bed was genuinely comfortable — not just hotel-marketing comfortable — and the air conditioning actually worked properly (which, trust me, matters in Milan summers). The bathroom was modern enough, though the shower could’ve used a bit more water pressure. What I really appreciated was the soundproofing; even being near a busy station area, I slept well.

Dining & Daily Rhythms

The breakfast situation is solid at this four-star hotel — they’ve got a proper spread with both Italian classics and international options. I actually ended up eating at the hotel restaurant one evening when I was too tired to venture out, and the pasta was better than I expected. Not life-changing, but definitely satisfying after a long day of walking around the city. The staff there seemed to know their regulars, which always makes a place feel more authentic.

Look, Hotel Colombia isn’t trying to be the fanciest place in Milan, and that’s exactly why it works so well. It’s the kind of hotel where business travelers feel comfortable, but tourists don’t feel out of place either.   Short walk from train station. Used this as a stopover due to train strike. Small room but big enough for one. Nice little balcony. Very comfy bed and good sized bathroom. Excellent breakfast. Staff spoke English fluently and were attentive and polite.
