Hotel Roxy Overview

First Impressions

Hotel Roxy sits on a quiet side street just off the main action in Milan, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want after a long day of navigating the city’s fashion districts. The building itself has that classic Italian charm — nothing too fancy, but clean lines and a welcoming entrance that doesn’t try too hard. It’s a three-star property that knows what it is and delivers on that promise without any pretense.

Location Perks

Via Nino Bixio is one of those streets locals actually use, which means you’re getting a real slice of Milanese life rather than tourist central. The Porta Garibaldi area buzzes with energy — there’s a great mix of business travelers grabbing espresso and residents heading to work. You can walk to Corso Buenos Aires for shopping in about ten minutes, and the Isola district (where some of the best aperitivo spots are hiding) is just a short metro ride away.

The Room Experience

My room was compact but thoughtfully arranged — you know how Italian hotels can make small spaces feel functional rather than cramped. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and I appreciated the blackout curtains since Milan’s summer nights stay bright pretty late. The bathroom had decent water pressure, which honestly matters more than marble countertops when you’re trying to rinse off after walking around the city all day. The AC worked well too, though it took a bit of figuring out the controls.

Daily Rhythms

Breakfast happens in a cozy ground-floor space that feels more like a neighborhood café than a hotel dining room. They keep it simple — good coffee, fresh pastries, and the basics done right. The staff actually remembers your name after a day or two, which is refreshing in a city that can feel pretty impersonal. There’s no fancy spa or elaborate amenities, but the 24-hour front desk proved helpful when I needed restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist spots.

Why Guests Keep Coming Back

Hotel Roxy works because it doesn’t oversell itself — it’s reliable, reasonably priced, and puts you in a part of Milan where you can actually live like a local for a few days. The neighborhood has character without being too polished, and you’re close enough to everything that matters without paying premium prices for a Quadrilatero della Moda address. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need from a Milan stay.

Reviews of Hotel Roxy

  • Another nice stat – Vicki from United Kingdom – 25 November 2025 (9/10)

Easy check in rooms clean lovely selection for breakfast staff friendly walking distance to train station restaurants tram stop on the road
Stayed many of times would recommend

What could be improved: Stayed a few times at Roxy now and this time everytime we flushed the toilet there was a bad smell of drains which made the whole room smell we had to keep the balcony door open and if we were out and the cleaner had been she left the bathroom door closed and and when we got back and opened it again the smell was there stinking out the room again
But this won’t put me off visiting again

  • comfortable room, conveniently located near both the airport and Milan Central Station – Charleston from New Zealand – 11 October 2025 (9/10)

Clean and comfortable room, conveniently located near both the airport and Milan Central Station

What could be improved: There were no tissues provided on our first night.

  • Very good – Amanda from Australia – 3 October 2025 (8/10)

The staff was friendly and helpful.

What could be improved: The location wasn't particularly central

  • Very good – Levan from Georgia – 1 October 2025 (8/10)

Very good staff and very good breakfast

What could be improved: Noise from the tram

  • Fantastic breakfast. Great service. – Louise from United Kingdom – 25 September 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful decor. Very friendly, helpful staff. Excellent service. Wonderful breakfast.

What could be improved: No facility for making tea/coffee in room.

  • Convenient location. But very small and noisy. – Natalie from Australia – 24 September 2025 (8/10)

Within walking distance of the Duomo Cathedral and shopping. Some great restaurants in the area.

What could be improved: Very noisy. The tram rattles past every 15minutes. Can hear toilet above flushing.

  • Hotel Roxy great location Great location – Bernie from Ireland – 20 September 2025 (9/10)

Great location for seeing the city

  • Nice affordable option in great location. – Jane from New Zealand – 13 September 2025 (8/10)

The hotel was clean and the reception area was welcoming. The staff were fantastic and very helpful. The breakfast was included and it was delicious with a great range. Our room had a balcony which was lovely. Great location close to tram stops and the metro red line. The neighbourhood felt very safe. The hotel is close to retail, restaurants and supermarkets.
    We enjoyed our stay.

What could be improved: The tram line runs right outside the hotel so it is noisy if you have a room at the front. The trams stop running at about 10pm and don’t start again until around 6am, but the subway seems to go all night and you can hear that in the room.

  • Great location. Would stay again – Sophie from United Kingdom – 12 August 2025 (8/10)

On arrival we was met by a receptionist who was bilingual, she was very helpful and attentive. Our room was a decent size, two single beds with a fridge, clothes and shelving space, good shower, plenty light and a balcony (and a full length mirror!)
The location is great, loads of restaurants, cafes and shops near by with Just Eat and Deliveroo also available. Close to the tram stops, underground and uber scooters and bikes.

What could be improved: Unfortunately, the trams are extremely loud and they run late at night. Luckily we were tired from our travelling otherwise I’d worry about it disturbing sleep. Also the walls are extremely thin- we could hear the vac from the corridor, the shower from the other room and voices. Despite this- it did not ruin our stay.

  • Very good – Andrew from United Kingdom – 24 July 2025 (8/10)

Great hotel, I felt safe, it was clean and the staff were very helpful. Free use of the water fountain in the lobby was great. I was a solo traveller so picked a small room which was perfect for a short stay. Would highly recommend.

What could be improved: No coffee facilities in my room.
