The Navigli area is where Milan actually gets interesting after dark, and this place puts you right in the mix without the chaos of being directly on the canal. You’re maybe a seven-minute walk to Naviglio Grande, where all those aperitivo spots and vintage shops are buzzing most evenings. What I really appreciated was how easy it is to grab groceries at the Esselunga around the corner — super handy when you want to save some euros and eat in occasionally.

The Space

Each apartment here feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than staying in a hotel, which is exactly what you want from Italianway properties. The kitchen setup is actually functional — not just some token mini-fridge situation — so you can make proper coffee in the morning or heat up leftovers from that amazing risotto place down the street. The Wi-Fi works well (I mean, I got through several work calls without issues), and the air conditioning was a lifesaver during my July stay.

Getting Around

Here’s something most people don’t mention — the Porta Genova train station is closer than you’d think, maybe twelve minutes on foot. That connection gets you to central Milan pretty quickly, but honestly, I found myself taking trams more often. Line 2 and several bus routes run nearby, and there’s decent parking if you’re crazy enough to drive in Milan. The real win is being able to walk to dinner most nights without dealing with tourist crowds.

You know what really works about this place? It doesn’t try to be something it’s not. The 8.6 rating makes sense because it delivers on the basics really well — clean spaces, reliable amenities, and that authentic neighborhood vibe that makes you feel less like a tourist. The staff responds quickly when you need something, but they’re not hovering around trying to upsell you on tours or whatever. If you want to experience Milan the way locals actually live — grabbing coffee at the bar downstairs, shopping at the weekend markets, discovering that perfect little restaurant that doesn’t have an English menu — this gives you the perfect base for doing exactly that.

  What could be improved: Le pulizie all’ora del check in non erano state ancora eseguite e ho dovuto aspettare 1 ora per la fine delle pulizie fatte non a regola d’arte. La porta d’ingresso avrebbe bisogno di essere cambiata in quanto rovinata.

  What could be improved: Prezzo leggermente più basso per numero di notti più alte e poi privacy anche se le casse di ringhiera sono molto molto carine. Sarebbe bello poter avere le chiavi direttamente in struttura anche prima delle 15
