First Impressions

When I first walked up to Italianway – Orti 5, I’ll be honest — it’s not the kind of place that screams “hotel” from the street. Tucked into a residential building on a quiet side street, it feels more like you’re staying at a friend’s well-appointed apartment than checking into a traditional hotel. The entrance is understated, which I actually found refreshing after dealing with some of the more tourist-heavy spots around Milan.

Location Perks

Here’s what I love about this three-star spot — you’re genuinely in the heart of things without the chaos. Via Orti sits in Milan City Centre, and you can easily walk to the Duomo in about ten minutes (I timed it). But the street itself? It’s residential enough that you’ll actually get some sleep at night. There’s a little café around the corner where locals grab their morning espresso, and honestly, that told me everything I needed to know about the neighborhood.

The Space

The apartment I stayed in felt more spacious than most hotel rooms I’ve experienced in Milan. You get a proper kitchenette — not just a mini-fridge and a prayer — which means you can actually grab some groceries from the nearby market and save a few euros. The decor is modern without trying too hard, lots of clean lines and neutral tones that don’t fight for attention.

Daily Life Here

What struck me most was how normal everything felt. There’s no lobby to speak of, no concierge hovering around — you get your keys, settle in, and live like a temporary Milanese person. The building has decent Wi-Fi (I worked from there a couple days), and there’s parking available if you’re brave enough to drive in Milan. The whole setup works well if you prefer independence over hand-holding, which I definitely do.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t the Ritz — it’s something better for a lot of travelers. You’re staying in a real Milan building, on a real Milan street, without paying real Milan hotel prices for the city center location. The 7.4 rating makes sense to me because it delivers exactly what it promises: a clean, comfortable base in an excellent location. If you want room service and marble lobbies, book elsewhere. But if you want to feel like you actually live in Milan for a few days? This place nails it.

  Location is good, near metro station or 25min walking to Duomo.
  
  What could be improved: There are a lot of ants in the apartment, it is moldy smell, cause it’s basement. There wasn't enough warm water in the shower for everyone.

  Well appointed apartment.
  Good location, walkable to the city centre, but also plenty of transport options available if required.
  16 tram from around the corner takes you direct to San Siro.
  Plenty of amenities in the area.
  
  What could be improved: Not overly enamoured with needing to use my phone to gain access to the building, but maybe that's just me.
  Would have preferred an access code, like with the apartment.

  Perfect Location. Supermarket, restaurants, metro, stores, attractions very close to the apartment. Apartment were very clean and easy to access.
  Perfect communications with italianway, very fast response.
  
  What could be improved: The only thing I would like to suggest is to install shadows or black outs in the bedrooms, specially in main bedroom. The light in the street make uncomfortable to sleep.

  What could be improved: In en suite room there’s Noise from street and road. A lot of light and shadows coming in through window. Hard to get to sleep at night. Would recommend getting some black out roller blinds

  The location is fantastic, very close to Porta Romana and Crocetta metro stations.
  
  What could be improved: The en suite room is quite noisy at nighttime and black out blinds would be a good investment to block out the street lights also.

  Location was very good – close to the metro and tram station. It was easy to check in and open the doors.
  
  What could be improved: Bedrooms didn't have blinds. Street-sided bedroom had a lot of street light coming in from the windows during the night.
  Kitchen was poorly equipped. There was no washing machine nor even a scrub and washing detergent to wash plates with.
  There was no soap in the kitchen nor bathrooms.

  What could be improved: Air Condition was not working well.
  Hot water was just enough for two to shower and than u need to wait in order to get hot water again
  Team working online just want to say sorry instead of finding solutions (easiest way and cheapest to solve problems)
