First Impressions

Walking into Nu Hotel feels like stepping into someone’s incredibly well-designed apartment rather than a typical hotel lobby. The whole vibe is understated and modern — no marble columns or chandeliers here, just clean lines and that effortless Italian style that somehow looks expensive without trying too hard. It’s tucked away on Via Feltre in the Porta Garibaldi area, which honestly took me a minute to find the first time, but that’s part of its charm.

Location & Neighborhood

You know what I love about this spot? It’s in Milan but doesn’t feel touristy at all. The Porta Garibaldi district is where actual Milanese people live and work — there’s a great morning coffee scene, and you’ll hear more Italian than English on the streets. The Garibaldi train station is maybe a seven-minute walk, which means you can actually get to the Duomo or Navigli without dealing with taxis. Plus, there are these little neighborhood trattorias nearby that don’t even have English menus.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was compact but smartly laid out — everything had its place, and nothing felt cramped. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (I mean, I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually works properly. What really got me was the attention to detail: proper blackout curtains, outlets where you need them, and a mini-fridge that doesn’t sound like a jet engine all night.

Style & Service

This four-star property gets the balance right between design and functionality. The staff seems genuinely helpful rather than scripted — they’ll actually give you real restaurant recommendations instead of just pointing to the tourist spots. The whole place has this Nordic-meets-Italian aesthetic that feels current but not trendy in a way that’ll look dated in two years. There’s a small wellness area with a sauna, which honestly surprised me for a hotel this size.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Nu Hotel isn’t trying to be the fanciest place in Milan, and that’s exactly why it works. It’s for people who want good design, a solid night’s sleep, and a location that feels authentic rather than manufactured for tourists. The restaurant downstairs serves decent food (though I’d still venture out for dinner), and there’s parking available if you’re brave enough to drive in Milan. For the price point, you’re getting thoughtful design and genuine service in a neighborhood that gives you a real taste of the city.

  Comfy bed, very clean, nice top restaurant and great breakfast.
  
  What could be improved: The room was cold (they’ve forgot to switch on heater), it took some time to warm up. The location is in an area where you would not like to walk around the evening (ugly and feeling unsafe).

  Hotel is nice and modern. The breakfast is excellent, good selection of pastry, fruit, cereals, cured meat and also bacon and eggs. Staff is very friendly. The restaurant is a rooftop so very good with nice weather. Big supermarket opposite the hotel, 5min walk from the underground.

  I had a fantastic experience staying at NU Hotel in Milan. The location is absolutely perfect — nestled in a vibrant area full of trendy restaurants and local spots, it gave me a great taste of the city’s lively atmosphere. Even better, it’s just a 20-minute ride to the city center via the nearby underground, making it incredibly easy to explore all that Milan has to offer.
  
  The hotel itself is beautifully designed with a modern, stylish feel throughout. Everything was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully put together. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with a smile, which made the stay even more enjoyable.
  
  One of the highlights was the convenient private parking at the back of the hotel — a real bonus if you’re driving in Milan. Overall, NU Hotel is a perfect mix of comfort, location, and service. I’d definitely stay here again!

  The breakfast was great. All want we wanted and even more 🙂 The room was very nice, comfy bed. The shower was interesting, but worked great. The Metrostation near was very very convinient.
