Number House – Number 20 caught my attention the moment I walked up to the building on Via Scipione Pistrucci. It’s one of those places that doesn’t scream for attention but somehow draws you in with its understated elegance. The four-star property sits quietly in the Porta Vittoria neighborhood, and honestly, that’s part of its charm — you get the feeling you’ve discovered something the crowds haven’t figured out yet.

The Neighborhood Feel

What I really appreciate about this spot is how it captures the real Milan experience. Porta Vittoria isn’t touristy at all, which means you’ll find yourself grabbing morning coffee alongside actual Milanese heading to work. The area has this residential vibe that makes you feel like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it. You know what’s great? The Porta Romana metro station is just a short walk away, so getting to the Duomo or navigating the city is actually pretty straightforward.

The Space Itself

The room I stayed in had this modern, minimalist design that felt fresh without being cold. Everything’s thoughtfully arranged — I mean, you can tell someone actually considered how people use hotel spaces. The beds are comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathrooms are sleek with good water pressure, which matters more than you’d think after a long day of walking around the city.

Local Insights

Here’s something you won’t read in most hotel descriptions — the restaurant scene around here is fantastic. There’s this little trattoria about two blocks away that serves the kind of risotto that makes you understand why Milan takes its food so seriously. The staff at Number House actually gave me some solid recommendations, and they clearly know the neighborhood well. It’s not like staying in the center where every suggestion is obvious tourist fare.

Why Guests Love It

Look, if you want to be in the thick of the tourist action, this might not be your place. But if you’re looking for a well-designed, comfortable base in a neighborhood that feels authentically Milanese, Number House – Number 20 really delivers. The service is attentive without being overbearing, and there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that focuses on doing the basics exceptionally well rather than trying to wow you with unnecessary extras.

  Large apartment, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and one living room. The apartment is located on the first floor and has a huge terrace. Nicely secured. One parking lot inside the courtyard of the building, very accessible.

  – We were able to collect the keys using the instructions provided by the host.
  – The apartment was really clean, well stocked with almost everything you might need during your stay.
  – Really comfortable beds. Plenty of space.
  – The local area is nice and clean with a number of local shops right at the doorstep.
  
  What could be improved: The only thing which didn't pan out as advertised on booking.com were the parking arrangements.
  The property was advertised as having onsite parking but for some reason we were not provided with it- despite availability, which we could see- and had to park about a kilometer away.

  I've stayed in 3 apartments in Milan and this was by far the nicest of the lot. It's close enough to the centre but feels very local. Nestor was extremely responsive. Bus right outside, tram nearby. Large supermarket close enough. The air con was top notch

  The property is very well situated, just 5 min walk from the bus 92 station Via Maestri Campionesi which goes directly to Milano Centrale (main train station). The neighborhood is quite. The block is new.
  Checkin and checkout processes are very easy.
  The apartment is big, kitchen is well equipped. There is a dishwasher, a washing machine, an iron ans iron board.
  The bathroom is big and has all needed amenities.
  The bedroom is quite, bed and pillows are comfortable. There is also a balcony.
  The apartment was clean and looks like in. The pictures.
