Primopiano – Andrea Doria Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Primopiano – Andrea Doria, you’ll notice it’s not your typical hotel — it’s actually more like staying in a stylish apartment building that happens to cater to travelers. The entrance feels residential rather than commercial, which I honestly found refreshing after dealing with crowded hotel lobbies elsewhere in Milan. The name literally means “first floor” in Italian, and that’s exactly what you get — a intimate space that feels more personal than your average four-star property.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about Viale Andrea Doria — it’s in the Stazione Centrale area, which means you’re about a 10-minute walk from Milan’s main train station. I know that might sound touristy, but it’s actually brilliant if you’re planning day trips or arriving with luggage. The neighborhood has this authentic working-class vibe that most visitors never see, with local cafes and small shops that close for lunch (very Italian). You can hop on the yellow metro line and be in the city center in maybe 15 minutes.
The Apartment Experience
What makes this place special is that you’re essentially renting an apartment rather than staying in a traditional hotel room. Each unit comes with its own kitchen, which — let me tell you — saves you a fortune when Milan’s restaurant prices start adding up. The spaces feel lived-in rather than sterile, with real furniture and proper lighting instead of those harsh hotel fixtures. I mean, you’ve got actual counter space and a dining table where you can spread out your maps and plan your day.
Practical Perks
The staff here operates more like helpful neighbors than formal hotel employees, which works well if you appreciate a low-key approach. There’s parking available, though honestly in Milan you’re better off using public transport anyway. What I really appreciated was having laundry facilities — after a week of travel, being able to wash clothes properly instead of doing that awkward sink-washing dance was pretty great. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building, unlike some places where you lose connection the moment you step away from the lobby.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Primopiano – Andrea Doria isn’t trying to impress you with marble lobbies or concierge services. Instead, it gives you something arguably more valuable — the feeling of actually living in Milan rather than just visiting it. You’ll find yourself shopping at the local market on Via Sammartini, figuring out which cafe makes the best morning cappuccino, and navigating the city like someone who belongs there. For travelers who want independence without sacrificing comfort, this setup hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Reviews of Primopiano – Andrea Doria
Great apartment near to the Centrale FS station and metro stations – Erika from Slovakia – 20 October 2025 (10/10)
Absolutely value for money if you ask me and the location was great! Just 5 minutes of walking from the Centrale FS train and metro Station (M2&M3), 2 mins. of walking from the Caiazzo metro station (M2) and 3 mins. of walking from the Loreto metro station (M1 and M2 lines), so you could get to the city centre in less than 10 mins.
The apartment was large, clean, well equipped and comfortable. Instructions sent by the owner were really clear and it was easy to get to the place and find the keys. A nice terrace was just a plus. I stayed here with my kids and we all were happy with the place and the flexibility it offered. Can only recommend and would return back to the same place again:)
What could be improved: N/ALiving like a local – Sharkey from Australia – 4 October 2025 (7/10)
It was spacious for 2 people
What could be improved: Supplied a washing machine but no detergent. When you've been travelling a long time and just want to wash your clothes, the last thing you want to be doing is finding somewhere that sells single sachets of detergent. Very much a residential area. If you like getting away from the tourist areas to eat, you'll love this place.Nice apartment in Milan – Lijntje from Netherlands – 16 September 2025 (7/10)
The whole apartment, it was clean and spacious. Bed was okay and the area was also fine!
What could be improved: The shower, first day it was cold because the boiler was off, we turned it on and had better temperature but I went cold after 3 minutesComfortable stay in Milano – Kateryna from United Kingdom – 10 August 2025 (10/10)
A comfortable apartment close to Milano Centrale station. It has everything you need: a washing machine, a dishwasher, an ironing board and an iron, a hairdryer, a TV, and a big wardrobe. The staff were friendly and helpful. Easy check in process.

What could be improved: need climb stairs with lots of heavy luggagesAmazing apartment with excellent location! – Marina from Cyprus – 11 May 2025 (10/10)
The apartment was very comfortable, beautiful and clean! The location was amazing – just a few minutes walk from the metro station and the central train station! The host is super helpful and responsive!
It was ok for a night, but definitely I will not choose this property for a long stay. – Cristina from Romania – 1 April 2025 (8/10)
It was clean, with all the supplies needed it.
Important to know that is very close to the Central Station (7 min walking).
The person in charge of this property was very nice and very communicative.
What could be improved: The entrance was not so easy to find, the property had in the bedroom some furniture broken and we had hot water only for 10 min.Perfect and comfort – Mehrdad from Iran – 25 March 2025 (9/10)
Location, Cleanliness. Full facilities،modern,safe
What could be improved: NothingGreat place highly recommend. – Kellie from United Kingdom – 24 January 2025 (8/10)
Great facilities and the space was perfect. Lovely little balcony with seating area. The beds were comfortable and bathroom fantastic. Even with four of us staying it felt spacious.
What could be improved: The hot water in the shower was a little hit and miss.Great value for money – Marina from North Macedonia – 23 October 2024 (8/10)
The rooms were good size and clean, the beds were very comfortable, the furniture and the kitchen are new and very nice, enough closets and mirrors. The apartment is fully equipped with everything you might need, like cutlery, glasses, pots and pans, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Nice bathroom, good water pressure and nice towels. The location is great with a Carrefour Supermarket across the street. So we liked pretty much everything and we would come back when in Milan next time.
What could be improved: The bedroom of the apartment is on the side od the street and there is some noise and vibration from the trams, but that didn’t bother us that much. Also you have to unlock like four doors to get into the appartment and go through three staircases up and down (4-6 stairs each, since the apartment is on the ground floor). There is no door between the bedroom and the living room, but they are separated by a long corridor, so there is some privacy. Contact them through Booking only, otherwise they don’t reply via message or e-mail, we didn’t try calling them.
