PrimoPiano – Calvi Overview
First Impressions
PrimoPiano – Calvi sits on a quiet side street in Milan‘s Porta Vittoria neighborhood, and honestly, I almost walked past it the first time. It’s one of those understated places that doesn’t shout for attention — which, after dealing with the chaos of Milano Centrale station, felt like exactly what I needed. The building itself has that classic Milanese apartment block vibe, but step inside and you’ll find they’ve done something pretty smart with the space.
The Neighborhood Reality
Porta Vittoria isn’t the glossy Brera or Navigli area most tourists flock to, and that’s actually a good thing. You’re staying where real Milanese people live and work, which means proper local cafes, family-run trattorias, and none of that tourist markup nonsense. The area’s got this working-class authenticity that I found refreshing — plus you’re about a 15-minute tram ride from the Duomo, so it’s not like you’re stuck in the suburbs.
What You’re Getting
This is a three-star place, so let’s be realistic about expectations. The room I stayed in was clean and functional — think modern IKEA meets Italian practicality. Nothing fancy, but the bed was comfortable enough and there was decent storage space for my stuff. The bathroom was compact but well-designed, with one of those rainfall showers that actually works properly (you’d be surprised how rare that is in this price range).
The Practical Bits
What I appreciated most was how straightforward everything was. Check-in was quick, the staff spoke enough English to sort out any issues, and the Wi-Fi actually worked throughout the building. There’s no on-site restaurant, but honestly, you’re in Milan — why would you want to eat hotel food when there’s incredible pizza al taglio five minutes down the street? They do serve a basic continental breakfast if you need something quick before heading out.
Why It Makes Sense
Look, PrimoPiano – Calvi isn’t going to win any design awards, but it does something more valuable — it gets out of your way. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or rooftop bars; you’re paying for a clean, comfortable base in a real Milan neighborhood. The 7.1 rating feels about right — it’s solidly decent without any major surprises, good or bad. If you want to experience Milan like locals do rather than tourists, and you don’t need someone fluffing your pillows twice a day, this place will do the job just fine.
Milan’s hotels wrap guests in Renaissance courtyards, fashion-week heritage, and concierge-curated Lombardy wine tours.

Reviews of PrimoPiano – Calvi
Good – Rodrigo from Portugal – 3 November 2025 (7/10)
It was nice for the price
What could be improved: Bed made an insane amount of noise every time someone moved, but unlike the other comments it did not feel like it was going to break.
The only thing that felt like breaking was the stairs to the bed, they would creek and rattle and shake and everything you could think ofGood 👌 – Rosita from Lithuania – 1 August 2025 (10/10)
We had a great stay! The apartment was cozy, clean, and well-maintained. It’s located about a 35-minute walk from the city center, but we enjoyed walking everywhere and didn’t use any public transport. It’s a perfect spot for those who like to explore the city on foot and take in all the streets along the way. There are also some lovely places to eat nearby. Highly recommended for a comfortable and relaxing stay!

What could be improved: Air con wasn’t great
Very loud neighbour playing pianoIt wasn’t perfect but in the end we really enjoyed staying in this accommodation – Eliška from Czech Republic – 31 July 2024 (8/10)
The accommodation was located nearby Duomo Milano. I also liked the kitchen. Check in was really easy and our arrival too. Communication super good.
What could be improved: Showering was a little bit complicated- there were two buttons and it took time to put the water on the right temperature. The air conditioner didn’t work so well.Little apartment for short staying in a very quiet and safe area of Milan – lots of cafes and bars. – Ewa from Poland – 20 May 2024 (8/10)
The best thing about this apartment is a location and how quiet is there. I can't remember when last time I have heard birds in the early morning. The area is very cozy and safe. People from Milan told me it's one of the best. Also full of little cafes and restaurants. Apartment itself is also a good deal for this price. It was clean, had everything what you could expect. Good for short staying.
What could be improved: Nothing to complain about. Good deal for this price.Good – Antonia from Austria – 18 September 2023 (7/10)
The appartment is well equipped and comfortable. It is located in a nice neighborhood, close to the city center and a larger super market.
What could be improved: I would have appreciated a possibilty to turn lights on and off next to the bed (or to charge my phone there to use my flashlight)- climbing the stairs in the darkness was a bit challenging. Further, it was not easy to get the temperatures right in the shower.Good – Aneta from Poland – 14 September 2023 (7/10)
Close to the metro/tram/bus. A small grocery store in close distance. Good WiFi.
What could be improved: The bathroom was old and not clean enough. The stairs to the bed were making noise when using it.
