PrimoPiano – Ciardi Overview

First Impressions

PrimoPiano – Ciardi sits on a quiet residential street in San Siro, and honestly, you might walk past it if you’re not paying attention. It’s tucked into a typical Milanese building with that understated elegance you find all over the city — no flashy signs or grand entrance, just solid character. The name literally means “first floor” in Italian, which pretty much tells you what you’re getting: a three-star spot that feels more like staying in someone’s well-appointed apartment than a traditional hotel.

The Neighborhood Advantage

San Siro isn’t exactly where most tourists plant their flag, but that’s actually what makes it interesting. You’re about a 20-minute metro ride from the Duomo, which means you get to see how real Milanese live without being surrounded by selfie sticks all day. There’s a decent restaurant called Osteria del Borgo just two blocks away that serves proper Lombard cuisine — the kind of place where locals argue about football over their risotto.

The Space Itself

My room was exactly what I expected from the photos, which is more than I can say for a lot of places. Clean lines, decent-sized windows, and a kitchenette that’s actually functional if you want to grab groceries from the Esselunga down the street. The bathroom’s compact but well-designed — they clearly thought about how to use the space efficiently. You know what impressed me most? The Wi-Fi actually worked consistently, and the air conditioning didn’t sound like a jet engine.

Getting Around Milan

The San Siro Stadio metro stop is about an 8-minute walk, and from there you’re connected to pretty much everywhere you’d want to go. If you’re here for a match at the stadium, well, you’ve basically won the location lottery. But even for regular sightseeing, it’s straightforward — take the purple line toward the center and you’ll hit all the main stops. There’s also parking available if you’ve rented a car, though honestly, driving in Milan is something I’d only recommend if you enjoy stress.

Why Guests Love It

Look, PrimoPiano – Ciardi isn’t going to wow you with marble lobbies or rooftop pools, but it does something more valuable — it gets out of your way and lets you experience Milan like you actually live there. The staff knows enough English to help when you need it, the price point makes sense for what you get, and you’re not paying for amenities you probably won’t use anyway. It’s the kind of place that works especially well if you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring the city rather than hanging around the hotel.

Location was good. My child likes the chair. Very homey. Had everything you need. Was all round a good place to stay

What could be improved: Monday morning construction. 8am smashing things. Also not enough plugs

  • Nice – Cherry from Italy – 19 May 2025 (7/10)

    The location

What could be improved: No aircon

  • Amazing, would definitely book this apartment again – Maria from Romania – 31 January 2025 (9/10)

The ambiance, the cleanness and the location

  • Good location, comfortable apartment. Recommended for 2 people or a couple with infant. – Krishanu from United Kingdom – 6 October 2024 (9/10)

Easy to find with the detailed instructions they send before check-in. Bedroom was big and large comfortable bed, enough space in the cupboards.
Just a couple hundred meters from the underground and tram stop, another few hundred to San Siro stadium.
    Kitchen was adequately stocked.
Apartment on the ground floor, just a few steps to the building main door.
    Recommended for 2 people.

What could be improved: Sofa bed was uncomfortable, not meant for sleeping.

  • We had a great stay at the Primopiano. – Milan from Slovakia – 2 May 2024 (9/10)

Tne location vas excellent for my intentions – visit the football match.

What could be improved: I think I smelled gas in the kitchen sometimes, a check would be good.

  • Pleasant – K from Serbia – 29 March 2024 (6/10)

What could be improved: Cold, lights in the kitchen didn't work, couldn't get into the apartment and the host wasn't replying, had to wait for a neighbour to let me in, overall average.

  • Good – Malek from Serbia – 19 September 2023 (7/10)

Well equiped and good located appartement with metro connection.

What could be improved: Poor isolation, noises from the outside. Poor description of opening the door for the first time, without possibility to contact anyone outside working hours, we had to spend the first night in another hotel. We got a more clear description per e-mail.

  • Milan is a great city to explore, make sure you go to lake como too! Apartment is as the review. – Rebecca from Vietnam – 13 April 2023 (7/10)

The apartment is very convenient for the metro a short walk away and also the supermarket very close by which has pretty much everything you need. The apartment is spacious and the bed was very comfortable, others living in the building were also very pleasant and helpful. The kitchen is well equipped we stayed four nights and were able to have a dinner in and breakfasts. I would say overall it is reasonably priced and fair value for money.

What could be improved: As others reviews it is a ground floor apartment so noisy when others are entering the building as the bedroom is located right next to the entrance gate, and can hear people out on the street. The heating was off in that part of Milan during our stay in April and was chill so would take some comfy warm lounge ware/jumpers for when you’re back at the apartment. The shower head is broken so doesn’t stay up something that could be quite easily fixed and should be after others reviews too.

  • Very good – Wien from Netherlands – 31 March 2023 (8/10)

Easy to reach and nice property. Good value for money

What could be improved: The gate at night makes a lot of noise.
It was a bit cold with no way to increase the heat.

  • Overall things were great with the location and it was a pleasant experience. – Mihai from Romania – 14 March 2023 (8/10)

The location was very close to a subway station and to a supermarket so that came in handy. The kitchen was very beautifully furnished and had pretty much everything we needed. The rooms were very spacious.

What could be improved: We had inquired about heat and were told the heating works well. And it's true that the radiators were hot. But you couldn't really feel the warmth in the room, we were constantly cold. Lucky the blanket was good enough.

Also, the iron was stained on the bottom and I almost ruined a pair of jeans because of it.
