PrimoPiano – Clitumno Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to PrimoPiano – Clitumno on Via Clitumno, you’ll notice it’s tucked into a quiet residential street that feels refreshingly removed from the tourist chaos. The building itself has that understated Milanese elegance — nothing flashy, but there’s something appealing about its simplicity. I mean, when you’re staying at a three-star place in Milan, you’re not expecting marble lobbies, and honestly, that’s part of what works here.

The Neighborhood Feel

This part of Milan is actually pretty interesting — you’re in a proper residential area where locals go about their daily business. There’s a great little bakery just two blocks down that opens ridiculously early, and the metro connection at Lambrate gets you into the city center in about fifteen minutes. You know what I love about staying here? You get a real sense of how Milanese people actually live, away from the Duomo crowds and overpriced tourist traps.

Your Room Setup

The room I stayed in was clean and functional — exactly what you’d expect from a solid mid-range spot. Nothing groundbreaking, but the bed was comfortable enough, and there’s decent storage space for your stuff. The bathroom’s compact but well-designed, with good water pressure (which honestly matters more than fancy fixtures when you’re dealing with early morning flights). Air conditioning works well too, which you’ll appreciate during Milan’s sticky summers.

Getting Around and Practicalities

Here’s something that really impressed me — the staff actually knows the neighborhood and can give you proper directions, not just the usual tourist script. They helped me figure out the fastest route to Porta Garibaldi for a meeting, and suggested a fantastic local restaurant that I never would’ve found otherwise. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area, but they’ll point you toward the nearest spots that won’t break the bank.

Why Guests Appreciate It

Look, PrimoPiano – Clitumno isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s refreshing. You’re getting honest value in a city where hotel prices can be absolutely brutal. The 7.4 rating makes sense — it’s not perfect, but it delivers on the basics while giving you that authentic Milan residential experience. If you want to feel like you’re staying in a real neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble, this place actually succeeds where a lot of fancier hotels don’t.

Reviews of PrimoPiano – Clitumno

  • Good – Saghar from Italy – 24 March 2025 (7/10)

It was clean , cozy , the terrace was nice
The kitchen had everything we needed
Although we would appreciate having a grater for cutting into small pieces

What could be improved: The sinks needs checking it gets clogged and water does not go down easily
The walls are thin so you hear other apartments making noise
The neighborhood looks a little scary specially at night

  • Pleasant – Rebecca from Italy – 29 October 2024 (6/10)

We had some issues with some plugs, the hot water and the wifi. The staff were very nice and helpful and sent the maintace guy straight away to fix the hot water but we did still have to have cold showers in the morning. However the wifi was an external problem and it didn't work for the entire stay. Staff super though and very responsive!

What could be improved: The rug was quite stained.

  • Good but couldve been better. – David from Spain – 16 July 2024 (6/10)

    The Balcony.

What could be improved: The location is more of an outskirts of Milan…Ghetto, didnt know that before booking

  • Passable – Kristina from Slovenia – 8 June 2024 (5/10)

What could be improved: I originally booked the place because of the balcony, however, the balcony was not clean and therefore we did not use it. I would like to mention the location: given that the nearest metro station was 15mins away, it did not feel safe to walk to the apartment…

  • Superb – Magdalena from Portugal – 27 May 2024 (9/10)

The apartment has everything what you need for shorter and longer stay. We especially liked a big terrace.
30 minutes walk to the central station through nice local neighbourhoods. The metro is also located close by. There is a market and cafes around.
    Smooth online check in experience.

What could be improved: The area is a bit sketchy. Even though it still seem safe, as female travelers we were cat called by some drunk people and young boys who were sitting on our street. That was very uncomfortable.
We had problem to get to the building, but fortunately a neighbour let us in.

  • Exceptional – Mostafa from Egypt – 19 April 2024 (10/10)

I like the place and how the design is amazing
    The location is good
    The area is quit
    So far super good

What could be improved: I didn't like the toilet floor slope as sometimes after having a shower, the water accumulates on the floor .

  • just fine – Zeeshan from Pakistan – 13 September 2023 (5/10)

    balcony

What could be improved: not enough tissue rolls
not enough towels for 5 days
have to walk 10mins for metro

  • Affordable and beautiful rooftop view – Shiini from Japan – 28 April 2023 (8/10)

The balcony is definitely the best part about the place! The apartment is also big and the bedsheets/towels smell nice. Wifi was fast too

What could be improved: No toiletries such as toothbrush, toothpaste, cottonbuds, conditioner, body soap. Not sure if this is standard in Italy, so just prepare in advance. Location felt a little sketchy but it was fine.

  • suitable for couples or students – Tomas from Czech Republic – 21 April 2023 (7/10)

    it is a 1+1 apartment with a large terrace, within walking distance of a bus stop (5 minutes) or subway (10 minutes); there are a large numbers of shops, bars, restaurants in the vicinity;

What could be improved: there was a technical problem with the gas appliances in the kitchen, it was not resolved during the stay

  • Superb – Anastasiia from Slovakia – 7 February 2023 (9/10)

The apartment is very convenient and has a nice location. It is only 10 from metro station M2, from where you can get wherever you need to. The TV is amazing and huge, in the kitchen you can find everything that you need for a breakfast, if you don’t want to eat in the centre.

What could be improved: It was a little bit cold, when we were sleeping there, but then it was okay, otherwise very pleasant staying.
