If you’re heading to the Navigli for dinner or want to hit up the Quadrilatero for shopping, it’s maybe 20 minutes door-to-door. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel with local bars and that morning espresso crowd you won’t find in touristy areas.

My room was on the first floor (which, Italian-style, means one flight up), and it had everything I needed without any fuss. The bed was comfortable enough for a solid night’s sleep, and the bathroom was compact but functional. What surprised me was how quiet it stayed even with the windows open — Via Sacchini doesn’t get much traffic noise. The wifi worked well, which honestly isn’t always a given in older Milan buildings, and there’s decent storage space for a week-long stay.

  What could be improved: The bedding had stains, the apartment was much smaller than in the photos, and the only way to contact the owners was through Booking or email — the phone didn’t work! The key box wasn’t working, so we couldn’t get into the apartment for our late check-in. The issue was only resolved after 12 PM the next day, when a representative of the apartment manually opened the key box and then sent a photo showing where to find the keys. They later replaced the key box, confirming that it was indeed broken. When I requested a partial refund for the night we had to spend outside due to their fault, they responded that we had violated the check-in rules — even though it was a self-check-in and they stated that you can check in at any convenient time!

  The location was good, with a 5 minute walk to the metro. The facilities were clean and tidy and well equipped.
  
  What could be improved: The bed was not very supportive and could do with a better quality mattress. As the bed is very low, you feel draughts, and it would be too low for an older guest. The heating only came on between 5pm and 6pm and again from 5am to 6am. This wasn't helped by the fact the radiators were 75% full of air. So little heat and noisy.
