Here’s what actually matters: you’re about a seven-minute walk from the Duomo, but more importantly, you’re in Brera’s backyard. That means real neighborhood cafes where locals grab their morning espresso, not tourist traps charging five euros for mediocre coffee. The Cairoli metro stop is practically around the corner, which saves you from those expensive taxi rides when you want to explore areas like Navigli or venture out to see La Scala.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was clean and thoughtfully designed — nothing flashy, but everything worked properly, which you’d be surprised how rare that can be in boutique hotels. The air conditioning actually cooled the space (crucial during Milan’s sticky summers), and the Wi-Fi was reliable enough for video calls. What I appreciated most was the attention to sound-proofing; Via Terraggio isn’t exactly a highway, but Milan can get noisy, and I slept well here.

Dining & Neighborhood Eats

While R Orchidea House doesn’t have its own restaurant, this actually works in your favor. Step outside and you’re surrounded by some of Milan’s best-kept dining secrets. There’s a fantastic trattoria literally two blocks away that serves the kind of risotto alla milanese that makes you understand why Milanese people are so particular about their rice. For quick bites, the local panetteria opens early and stays open late — perfect for grabbing fresh focaccia before exploring.

What sets this place apart isn’t any single standout feature — it’s how everything just works smoothly together. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood and gives useful recommendations (not just the obvious tourist spots), the parking situation is manageable if you’re driving, and the whole experience feels authentically Milanese rather than designed for Instagram. You’re paying for location and reliability here, and honestly, that’s often exactly what you need in a city like Milan where you’ll spend most of your time exploring anyway.

Milan’s apartments welcome long stays with terrace views, museum access, and bike paths to hidden Leonardo da Vinci sites.

• Bad – Sijo from Ireland – 2 December 2025 (1/10)

  What could be improved: Upon booking, I paid a non-refundable amount as advertised on Booking.com. Subsequently, the property owners sent me a separate link demanding an additional payment of €52 to cover supposed property tax and cleaning fees. This extra payment was not disclosed at the time of booking, and I was only informed after my initial payment had been made. Furthermore, I was told that access to the property keys would only be granted once this additional fee was paid, leaving me with no practical option but to comply. If these charges had been made clear upfront, I would have considered alternative hotels or serviced apartments. Upon arrival, which was late at night, I discovered that there was no hot water available for showering, and the kettle was not functioning either. The overall standard of the apartment was disappointing, with the property being located in a noisy neighborhood and lacking soundproofing. The building itself appeared old and poorly maintained.
  
  For context, I have previously stayed in a serviced apartment in Milan City Centre where the facilities exceeded my expectations, and there were no hidden charges.

  What could be improved: Estafadores. Cuando haces el check in, te exigen un pago de tasa de limpieza de 43 euros por dos noches que no estaba contemplado en la reserva. No te dan respuesta. Muy mala atención del anfitrión. Ni una botella de agua en la heladera. Muy ruidoso a la noche.

  Super lokalizacja blisko do centrum, na pociąg czy metro.
  Bardzo duży, świetnie wyposażony apartament, niczego nie brakuje, nawet na dłuższy pobyt.

  Bardzo aktywna okolica, hałas z pobliskich lokali słyszalny mimo zamkniętych okien.
