Residence Portello Overview

First Impressions

Residence Portello sits in one of Milan’s most interesting neighborhoods — you know that area where the old industrial zone meets the shiny new business district? That’s exactly where you’ll find this four-star property. The building itself has this clean, contemporary look that fits perfectly with the Porta Garibaldi skyline just a short walk away. I’ll be honest, when I first walked up Via Mose Bianchi, I wasn’t expecting much, but the hotel’s modern facade actually surprised me.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about staying here — you’re close enough to the Fiera Milano that business travelers don’t need to stress about commute times, but far enough from the convention chaos that you can actually get some peace. The CityLife shopping district is basically next door, which means you’ve got everything from quick espresso stops to proper dinner spots within walking distance. The purple metro line runs nearby too, so getting to the Duomo or Navigli takes maybe 20 minutes on a good day.

The Apartment Experience

What makes Residence Portello different is that you’re not getting a typical hotel room — these are proper serviced apartments. Each apartment comes with its own kitchenette, which honestly saved me quite a bit of money during my stay. The setup feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than checking into a hotel. The furnishings are modern without being sterile, and there’s actually enough closet space for a longer stay, which you don’t always get in Milan.

Dining & Amenities

The on-site restaurant serves decent Italian classics — nothing that’ll blow your mind, but solid enough when you don’t feel like venturing out. What I really appreciated was the fitness center and the small spa area. After walking around trade shows all day, having access to a sauna was exactly what I needed. There’s also underground parking, which in Milan is basically worth its weight in gold if you’re driving.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Residence Portello isn’t trying to be the flashiest hotel in Milan, and that’s actually its strength. It’s reliable, well-located for business travelers, and gives you that apartment-style independence when you want it. The staff knows their stuff about the neighborhood — they pointed me toward this fantastic aperitivo spot just around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise. For the price point and the area, it delivers exactly what it promises without any unnecessary frills.

Reviews of Residence Portello

  • Very good – Mcillaney from United Kingdom – 3 October 2025 (8/10)

    Great for San Siro visit

  • Very good apartment to experience a new view of Milano – Albert from Spain – 29 March 2025 (8/10)

Very good apartment in Milano, located 5 min to different metro stations. The staff was friendly, the room clean and the place was nice with all you need to spend some days in Milano.

What could be improved: Nothing in general. Although it is easy to take the metro, you have to consider that you are not nearby to the main places to visit. It is a good location if you consider to do different things than just visit the Duomo.

  • Superb – Sam from Italy – 31 January 2025 (9/10)

We booked this apartment because our trip was for administrative purposes, and the location was very close to where we needed to be. The interior was modern and extremely clean. The kitchen was well-equipped with everything necessary for a short stay. The high-speed internet and smart TV were fantastic—we were able to watch Netflix (using our personal account). The four-seat dining table and comfortable sofa were thoughtfully arranged, making the space ideal for relaxing and watching TV.

The lighting inside the apartment was well-designed, and the windows offered a beautiful view of the building’s green courtyard. The luggage storage was very helpful, as we were able to leave our bags there for a few hours while handling our administrative tasks. Additionally, having a restroom in the lobby made things much more convenient after checkout.

The self-check-in process was smooth and very fast. The luggage storage service was also free of charge. The staff members we met by chance during our stay and at checkout were polite and kind, especially the gentleman who explained how to use the luggage storage—he was also responsible for guest pickups.

The only downside was the bed. It was two single beds pushed together to form a double bed. While this setup is generally fine for me and doesn’t feel much different from a standard double bed, I had specifically requested two single beds. Since the beds were naturally singles, I’m not sure why my request wasn’t considered. However, this was a minor issue compared to all the positives.

Overall, the apartment offers excellent value for the price, and with a bit more attention to detail, it could be perfect. Also, the heating system worked perfectly. Thank you!

  • Very good – Sarah from United Kingdom – 18 September 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: Shower was poor, as was hairdryer.

  • Very good – Krystian from Poland – 5 February 2024 (8/10)

quite big apartment close to Metro

    What could be improved: nothing

  • Superb – Giuliano from Belgium – 6 January 2024 (9/10)

Walking distance to San Siro and CityLife

What could be improved: No personnel

  • nice house problematic AC – Egwin from Austria – 9 December 2023 (8/10)

    Einfaches check in

What could be improved: The AC in the room was set to a fixed temperature and there was no way to turn it of with the wallcontrol panel or significantly change the temperature… for someone who get's a headache after 5 min AC exposure that's unacceptable. Attempts to contact the support staff failed because on the 24hrs help line provided the person was only speaking Italian and not a single word in English.

  • Modern and cozy – Asya from Bulgaria – 29 July 2023 (9/10)

Located in a quiet and beautiful neighborhood of Milan, the apartment had everything we needed. Clean, comfortable and peaceful. Great location: metro station, restaurant, shopping center. Thanks to Emilio, he was responsive and very helpful. Code access is a great convenience.

What could be improved: In the land of fine espresso, it's only fair to have an espresso coffee machine.

  • Nice place to stay overnight. – Simon from Slovenia – 25 June 2023 (8/10)

The location is ideal for events at San Siro hippodrome. The room and bathroom were spacious, well prepared and clean.

What could be improved: The sofa was not prepared as a second bed. No free parking.

  • Very good – Dominique from Switzerland – 24 June 2023 (8/10)

clean and large room , check-in and check-out easy and quick with access code and online pre check-in is super convenient

What could be improved: early check-out (10am) and cleaning staff even knocking on the door before 10am to ask us to free the room
