Suite Sovoy Porta Romana Overview
First Impressions
Suite Sovoy Porta Romana sits on a busy corner in one of Milan‘s most authentic neighborhoods, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work. The building itself looks pretty standard from the outside — nothing flashy — but step inside and you’ll find they’ve done a solid job creating something that feels more like a boutique guesthouse than your typical three-star hotel.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Porta Romana is where actual Milanese people live and work, which means you’re getting the real deal instead of tourist central. There’s a fantastic restaurant called Osteria del Borgo just two blocks down that locals pack every night, and the morning espresso scene around Piazzale Libia is absolutely perfect — you know what I mean, that authentic Italian coffee bar experience where everyone’s chatting and the barista actually remembers your order.
The Suite Experience
Every room here is actually a suite, which caught me off guard in the best way possible. The space feels generous — not cramped like so many Milan hotels — and each unit comes with a proper kitchenette that’s actually useful. I mean, you’ve got a real fridge, stovetop, and enough counter space to prep a simple meal or store those amazing cheeses you’ll inevitably buy at the local market.
The design leans modern without being cold, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. The bathrooms are well-sized too, with decent water pressure (always a concern in older Italian buildings). Storage space is thoughtful — they clearly understand that people staying in suites tend to unpack and settle in for a few days.
Getting Around
Here’s the thing about this location — you’re perfectly positioned without being in the chaos. The Porta Romana metro stop is literally a five-minute walk, which puts you in the Duomo area in about fifteen minutes. But honestly, I found myself walking everywhere because this part of Milan is so walkable and interesting.
There’s street parking if you’re driving, though I’d honestly recommend against bringing a car to Milan. The Navigli canal district is maybe twenty minutes on foot, and that whole area comes alive at night with aperitivo spots and riverside dining.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about Suite Sovoy Porta Romana is that it gives you space to breathe and live a bit like a local, rather than just passing through. The staff knows the neighborhood inside and out — they’ll point you toward that tiny bakery that makes incredible focaccia or tell you which tram line gets you to Brera without transfers.
It’s not trying to be something it’s not, and that’s refreshing. You’re getting clean, comfortable, well-designed suites in a genuine Milan neighborhood, with enough amenities to make longer stays actually pleasant. For the price point, especially considering you’re getting suite-style accommodations, it’s honestly a pretty smart choice for anyone who wants to experience Milan beyond the obvious tourist spots.

Relatively, it has a good location and good facilities. It's hard to break into the apartment but it's not a very safe zone, the car outside the was broken in to and everything was stolen.
What could be improved: It's unsafe, and the host couldn't communicate properly, very hard to do the check in (espcially when it's not in English!), we were locked out of the apartment several times due to not having an italian number.Comfy, beautiful new apartment with lots of facilities – Oleksandr from Ireland – 4 July 2025 (10/10)
A very nice apartment, we had everything, from dishwasher to coffee machine. We even had some candles there, so I do recommend this place.
What could be improved: Smart TV was a bit slow, we couldn’t watch some films, but this is a minor issue compared to the quality of the whole apartment.Nice place in Milan – Amy from Singapore – 12 June 2025 (8/10)
The room is very new and had almost everything that we needed. Location-wise, it's about a 15-minute walk to the nearest metro station.
What could be improved: There was a little hiccup in the communication with the host during the check-in, but it was resolved and the stay after that was lovely.Very good – Anonymous from Italy – 27 May 2025 (8/10)
