The Best Rent – Apartment near Porta Romana Overview
First Impressions
The Best Rent – Apartment near Porta Romana sits on a quiet stretch of Viale Monte Nero, and honestly, the location surprised me in the best way. You’re technically in Milan City Centre, but it feels refreshingly residential — not touristy at all. The building itself is typical Milanese architecture, nothing flashy, but there’s something reassuring about staying in a real neighborhood where locals actually live.
The Space
The apartment I stayed in was genuinely spacious for Milan standards, which anyone who’s visited will tell you is no small feat. What I loved most was the kitchen — it’s actually functional, not just decorative like some places. You can prepare real meals here, and there’s proper counter space to spread out. The room was clean and comfortable, though don’t expect design magazine aesthetics. It’s more about practicality, which honestly worked perfectly for my stay.
Location Insights
Here’s what the guidebooks won’t tell you: this three-star spot puts you within walking distance of the Porta Romana metro station, but more importantly, you’re near some fantastic local spots. There’s a great morning market just a few blocks away, and the Navigli district — where all the nightlife happens — is easily reachable. I found myself wandering the tree-lined streets around here just because it felt so authentically Milanese.
Practical Details
The parking situation is what you’d expect in Milan — challenging but manageable if you coordinate with the property ahead of time. What impressed me was how responsive the management was when I had questions. They’re not running a massive operation here, so you actually get personal attention. The Wi-Fi worked reliably (crucial for me), and the building stays quiet at night, which can be rare in busy Milan.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to blow you away with amenities or lobby grandeur — there’s no spa or fancy restaurant. But here’s the thing: it delivers exactly what it promises. You get a proper apartment experience in a real Milan neighborhood, with enough space to actually unpack and settle in for a few days. For the price point and that 8.7 rating, it makes total sense. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re living in Milan temporarily rather than just passing through as a tourist, and honestly, that’s worth a lot more than marble lobbies and overpriced room service.

Reviews of The Best Rent – Apartment near Porta Romana
We felt at home at this place. – Saurabh from India – 18 October 2025 (8/10)
Conveniently located next to a tram station and places to eat. Getting in and out was easy using my mobile device.
What could be improved: There were a couple of issues which the management go fixed promptly.Given the very modern technology used for security, lighting, etc., more information in the online manual would be helpf – Robert from New Zealand – 23 August 2025 (8/10)
Once we settled in to how things worked, we were happy. The location is very close to public transport which in August’s heat can help reduce the walking. Good wifi, 2 bathrooms, for us firm comfortable beds, excellent washing machine, well equipped kitchen but we ate out all meals. Grocery store minutes away. The hosts were very pleasant and proactive to deal with from the moment we booked , checked in and checked out.
What could be improved: The QR code linking you to apartment information etc, really contained nothing useful like how to work the light switches….it meant our first night we had to try and sleep with a very bright light on. 2 fridges but no milk which we regard as standard. Graffiti on kitchen windows meant we kept the shutters closed which is a shame as it is the main window connecting to outside.Very good – Jack from Australia – 23 June 2025 (8/10)
Facilities were great.
Access procedure was very good.
What could be improved: No corkscrew for my wine…. sob!Good – Peterbelfast1985 from United Kingdom – 21 February 2025 (7/10)
The beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows and an extra blanket.
What could be improved: Listing promises a living area, family room and sofa, however there are none of these. The apartment is a corridor, 2 bedrooms and a kitchen with a table and chairs.
In fairness to the staff they accepted this, apologised and made a nice gesture to compensate for this which we appreciated.Superb – Emma from United Kingdom – 23 September 2024 (9/10)
The location was great – really enjoyed the Fi.Lo bar next door. The beds were also very comfortable and it was very clean
Really enjoyed it. – Harrison from United Kingdom – 11 April 2024 (10/10)
Really great apartment. Good facilities and friendly, helpful staff. Great location and next to tram stop.
Very good – Leslie from Canada – 4 October 2023 (8/10)
Location was adjacent to streetcar, which made travel to Central Railway Station a breeze and good access to adjacent neighborhoods. Loved the thoughtful design details: hooks in bedroom, washroom design, wardrobe storage, washing machine, high ceilings, and lighting. The bistro next door was a delight and we ended up eating there everyday!
What could be improved: I missed having a fan as I often wake up over heated in the night.
Coffee pods weren't my favourite.We were satisfied – Isagani from Switzerland – 8 August 2023 (10/10)
Clean and good location
