Location That Actually Matters

Here’s what you need to know about Via Torino — you’re basically in the heart of Milan without the tourist trap feeling. The Duomo is maybe a 10-minute walk, but you’re also surrounded by actual Milanese life. There’s this great little café downstairs where locals grab their morning espresso, and the whole neighborhood has that lived-in Milan vibe that’s hard to find near the major sights. Plus, you can walk to Porta Ticinese in about five minutes, which means easy access to the Navigli district for dinner.

The Space Itself

What I really appreciate about this three-star place is how they’ve designed everything to feel uncluttered but functional. The rooms aren’t huge — this is Milan, after all — but they’ve made smart use of the space with clean lines and plenty of natural light from those tall windows typical of old Milan buildings. The beds are actually comfortable (not always a given at this price point), and there’s decent storage space for your stuff.

Practical Stuff That Works

The building itself has character — you know, those old Italian marble stairs and high ceilings that make you feel like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it. WiFi is solid throughout, which matters if you need to get work done. The shared common areas are kept clean, and while there’s no fancy restaurant or spa, there’s something refreshing about the no-frills approach when you’re paying reasonable rates in central Milan.

Look, if you want a concierge and room service, this isn’t your place. But if you want to feel like you’re actually staying in Milan — not in some generic hotel bubble — The FLOOR delivers exactly that. The 8.3 rating makes sense because it does what it promises without trying to be something it’s not.   What could be improved: The access was an issue since sometimes it would take several attempts to open the doors. Although, somebody’s always present at the reception to facilitate entry in case access pin didn’t work.
