Two-room apartment San Babila Milan Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Two-room apartment San Babila Milan on Via Cerva, you’ll notice it doesn’t scream “hotel” — and that’s actually part of its charm. This four-star property sits quietly in one of Milan‘s most coveted neighborhoods, just steps from San Babila square. The building has that understated Milanese elegance that locals prefer over flashy tourist traps.

Location & Neighborhood

You know what’s great about staying here? You’re literally in the heart of everything without the chaos of Duomo crowds. The Quadrilatero della Moda — Milan’s fashion quadrangle — is right around the corner, so you can window shop at Prada and Versace before your morning coffee. I mean, where else can you grab groceries at a local market, then walk five minutes to see La Scala?

The Apartment Setup

The two-room setup actually works better than most hotel rooms I’ve stayed in around here. You get a proper living area that doesn’t feel cramped, plus a separate bedroom where you can actually spread out your shopping bags (because let’s be honest, you’ll have them). The kitchen isn’t just for show either — it’s got everything you need if you want to cook with ingredients from the nearby Carrefour.

What Makes It Work

The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood, which makes a huge difference when you’re trying to figure out where locals eat versus tourist traps. They’ll point you toward that little trattoria on Via Borgospesso that doesn’t even have a sign, or tell you which gelateria actually makes their own flavors. The building itself is quiet — you won’t hear every footstep from the room above like you do in some of these converted palazzos.

Why Guests Keep Coming Back

Honestly, it’s the combination of space and location that keeps people booking this place. You’re not paying Brera prices, but you’re still walking distance from Castello Sforzesco and the Navigli district. The apartment setup means you can actually live like a Milanese for a few days instead of feeling like you’re just passing through. Plus, there’s decent parking nearby if you’re brave enough to drive in Milan — though honestly, the metro’s easier and San Babila station is right there.

Reviews of Two-room apartment San Babila Milan

  • Pleasant – Art from United States – 5 November 2025 (6/10)

    Location

What could be improved: 67 stair steps to the apt, no elevator. Not for any traveller with bags. Door lock operation requires WIFI, poor signal available, and a 9 digit code! 2nd room is a make-shift loft with a rickidi ladder and banister.

  • Wonderfull stay – Edoardo from Italy – 31 October 2025 (10/10)

The apartment is really week positioned. Really near to stop San Babila of two subway lines. We took the blue line from the airport and in less then 15’ we were at the apartment.
The bed are very conmfortable, the room are really quiet.
    We had real relax.
Duomo cathedral and the famous Montenapoleone street is really close too.
We will come back soon to this wonderful place.

  • Could be so much better – Alan from United Kingdom – 30 September 2025 (7/10)

As others have said the location is great and the host communicated well, even letting us in early to drop off cases. Clean insider with comfy large double beds, air conditioning, fully equipped kitchen and washing machine. Yes the stairs to the top floor are 3 flights but only used them twice a day. Key to property is via remote access so must have smart phone to access both doors.

What could be improved: The 2nd bed is a mezzanine floor above the kitchen with very steep wooded stairs to get up and even my 5ft 3 wife hit her head at top of steps each time. You wake up anytime someone uses the kitchen.
No tea towel in kitchen so have to use hand towel. No soap provided in the apartment at all – just as well shop very close by.
Lights faulty at top of stair case so dark in the evenings.
Shower is pathetic with limited hot water that dribbles out and not enough for the 4 of us. No toiletries supplied.
Plug sockets have small and large round holes so very limited where you can plug any adapters in. Plus the worry that you cannot have the air conditioning and the kettle on at same time or the fuse trips in the basement (4 flights down)

  • Easy walk to centre but many stairs to apartment. Second bedroom only mezzanine above kitchen. – Vic from Australia – 23 September 2025 (7/10)

What could be improved: Many stairs.

  • Very nice experience in Milan!! – Sofia from Greece – 10 August 2025 (8/10)

Excellent location 5 min walking from Duomo, clean and cozy apartement! Very well equipped and furnished! Nice cafe next to the building and grossers store opposite!

What could be improved: No elevator 4 th floor, low water pressure in the shower, the air conditioning was insufficient for the upper floor of the apartment

  • Great location – Paul from United Kingdom – 24 May 2025 (9/10)

Great location, enough room for 2. Nice quiet area and close to transport.

What could be improved: A few niggles
Sofa only seats one person. Toilet set needs replacing. Warped shelf in shower needs replacing. There was a vape in the bedside drawer from previous guests and roll on deodorant.
Couldn’t find an iron/board. There is also 69 steps to the apartment with no lift, maybe I missed it in the advert. Overall nice stay though

  • Superb – Samantha from Switzerland – 12 May 2025 (9/10)

Great apartment in a fantastic location, the host was very helpful

  • Great position. Hosts were very nice. Stairs were terrible. Apartment was disappointing. – Juliet from Australia – 9 May 2025 (6/10)

Great position for the cathedral and city centre. The cafe downstairs is excellent.

What could be improved: The description didn’t mention the 67 steep narrow stairs to the apartment. It has lots of light but couldn’t be described as spacious, particularly for 4 people. The ‘view’ is into the office across the street. The stairs to the mezzanine bedroom were positively dangerous. The mattress on our bed was too big for the base, so hung over the sides.

  • Exceptional – Nicole from Poland – 21 April 2025 (10/10)

The owners are really helpful and available, any questions were answered very fast.
The apartment was clean and very cosy.
Air-condition is in, so there was no problem to warm up a bit.
    Beds are comfortable.
Extremely close to the Duomo, few minutes walk by.
Street is quiet. Carrefour market on the corner, nice cafeteria in the same building.
    Netflix, wifi available.
    We truly enjoyed our stay!
    Thank you 😊

What could be improved: The only uncomfortable is the shower, which does not have any glass or even shower curtain, which makes the bath really splash.
Please note that the apartment is on the highest floor, which could be a problem for someone.

  • Honestly if I ever went back to Milan I would book that place again great for the price. – Joseph from United Kingdom – 10 February 2025 (8/10)

The location was in an almost perfect spot easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and the cathedral, other attractions are a 20-30 minute walk but that’s fine. There is a convenience store 15 seconds away which explains itself and the general look of the place was pleasant and clean. The beds are fairly comfy and had a washing machine if you were staying for a longer period, also has two rooms so you can have upto four people. There are a few metro points nearby which is great and you can get there from the airport if you took the right route.

What could be improved: The shower was the worse thing for me personally, I love when I go to hotels and air bnb and they have great showers very big let down for me. There was no first aid kit in property which we could find not great especially when you might cut yourself which happened in my case but was little and wasn’t particularly needed but could’ve been worse. The apartment is on the top floor so expect to walk up lots of stairs which was a not problem for us but could be for a person if they don’t know.
