UNA Hotels Hotel & Residence Contessa Jolanda Milano Overview
First Impressions
Walking into UNA Hotels Hotel & Residence Contessa Jolanda Milano, you get this immediate sense that you’re somewhere that actually cares about getting the details right. The lobby isn’t trying too hard to impress — it’s got that understated Italian elegance thing down perfectly. I mean, this is a four-star property, so you’re not expecting marble everywhere, but what they’ve done with the space feels thoughtful and, honestly, pretty welcoming.
The Neighborhood Reality
Here’s what I really appreciate about this spot — it’s in a real Milan neighborhood, not some tourist bubble. Via Murat sits in this residential pocket where you’ll actually see locals going about their day. You’re about a fifteen-minute metro ride from the Duomo, which sounds far until you realize you’re avoiding all the chaos and inflated prices of the center. The Porta Garibaldi area is walkable from here, and that’s where some of Milan’s best aperitivo spots are hiding.
Room Experience
The room I stayed in was one of their residence-style setups, which basically means you get a proper living area that doesn’t feel cramped. What surprised me was the kitchenette — not just some mini-fridge situation, but an actual space where you could put together a decent breakfast if you wanted to skip the hotel’s offering. The bed was comfortable enough, though the pillows were a bit soft for my taste (but that might just be me).
Practical Stuff That Matters
The restaurant downstairs serves solid Italian fare — nothing revolutionary, but you know what you’re getting, and it’s done well. I actually ended up eating there twice because sometimes you just want something reliable after a long day of walking around the city. Parking is available, which in Milan is basically like finding a unicorn, though you’ll pay for the privilege. The staff speaks decent English, and they seem to genuinely know the area well enough to give you actual recommendations.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the flashiest hotel you’ll find in Milan, but it gets the fundamentals right in a way that makes your stay feel less stressful. The location gives you that authentic Milan experience without the tourist markup, the rooms are spacious enough to actually relax in, and the whole operation runs smoothly without being overly formal. For travelers who want to experience Milan like someone who actually lives here rather than just passing through, it’s a solid choice that won’t break the bank.
Hotels in Milan dot historic Brera district, cathedral squares, and design quarters brimming with artisan workshops.

Near to metro station.
What could be improved: Ac was not working.Out of the centre but close to Metro – Judy from New Zealand – 8 July 2024 (8/10)
The room was large with a table and 3 chairs. There was a sofa and the bed was 2 singles joined. There was a kitchen area but apart from a microwave, half-sized fridge and separate half- sized freezer there was nothing to cook or eat with. There was a large balcony but no furniture. The shower was over the bath. We were on the 7th floor away from the road so it was quiet. It was within easy walking distance to two metro stations. We came by car and used the parking garage under the hotel, which is run by someone else so we had to pay. We were able to drive close to the hotel entrance once we checked in, to drop off luggage. There were 3 large lifts.
What could be improved: The room was shabby but clean. There were only a couple of nearby restaurants open. We had a good, reasonably priced meal at Taormina restaurant one night and takeaway pizza another. Garbagnati is nearby and is a fantastic bakery. Gelateria Vulci is well worth a stop too.Good – Deniz from Turkey – 29 June 2024 (7/10)
Room was nice
What could be improved: Location due to surrounding was not make us feel safe. Too many untrustful People around.Very good – Egidijus from Lithuania – 11 June 2024 (8/10)
Simple, but decent breakfast. Spacious room with balcony. Staff at the breakfast was very friendly and polite.
What could be improved: Nothing, it was more or less as expected.Very good – Mandishta from Mauritius – 2 June 2024 (8/10)
It was very spacious, almost like a suite, with a separate living area and a bedroom.
What could be improved: There was no trash can in any of the roomsNice place to stay. – Hasan from United Kingdom – 26 May 2024 (8/10)
Nice and clean place to stay, close to the tube station.
What could be improved: We came from the UK, we brought our EU plug converters however it didn’t fit hotel’s plugs. Receptionist gave us one plug converter. We as a couple tried to charge our mobile phone and smart watches with one plug. It was better than nothing but I think hotel should also supply usb ports in rooms as well.Very pleasent – Arsenkov from Serbia – 6 May 2024 (8/10)
