Location & Neighborhood

Porta Vittoria is one of those Milan neighborhoods that locals love but tourists often miss. You’re about a 15-minute walk from the Duomo, which means you can easily reach the center without dealing with the chaos of staying right in it. The area has this authentic residential vibe — there’s a fantastic bakery around the corner where you’ll see the same faces every morning, and the metro connection at Porta Vittoria gets you anywhere in the city pretty quickly.

The Room Experience

My room was what I’d call “thoughtfully compact” — not huge, but every square meter was used intelligently. The bed was genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually works properly. What struck me most was the attention to local touches — there’s artwork from Milanese artists on the walls, and even the minibar was stocked with products from nearby shops rather than generic hotel fare.

Dining & Social Spaces

The hotel’s restaurant serves breakfast and light meals, and while it’s not going to win any Michelin stars, the coffee is excellent — which, let’s be real, is what matters most in Milan. The staff clearly knows their regulars, and there’s something nice about starting your day in a place where the barista remembers how you take your cappuccino. The common areas have this relaxed energy where business travelers and tourists mix naturally.

bellaMI works because it feels authentically Milanese without trying too hard. The staff genuinely seems to care about your experience — they’ll give you directions to that hidden aperitivo spot that’s not in guidebooks, or help you figure out the most efficient route to wherever you’re headed. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in the city rather than just visiting it, if that makes sense. For the price point, you’re getting solid comfort and a real sense of place, which is honestly harder to find than you’d think.

  The hotel is good. It is not far from a train station and the tram. The entrance is easy to find. The rooms are comfy but not spectacular they are quiet as well.
