The Pinacoteca di Brera art gallery is just around the corner, and I found myself wandering through those cobblestone streets every morning before the tourist crowds arrived. There’s this little café — Bar Brera — about two minutes’ walk away where locals grab their morning espresso, and the barista actually remembered my order by day three. The area comes alive in the evenings too, with aperitivo spots that don’t feel touristy at all.

The Suite Setup

The room I stayed in was more spacious than I expected for a Milan property in this price range. What impressed me most was the attention to detail — the beds were comfortable (not always a given in Italian hotels, I’ve learned), and the bathroom had decent water pressure, which honestly made my day. The décor isn’t flashy, but it’s clean and modern with subtle nods to the artistic neighborhood. I mean, you’re not getting marble countertops, but everything works well and feels thoughtfully arranged.

Practical Considerations

Getting around from here is actually easier than from some of the more “central” hotels I’ve tried. The Lanza metro stop is about a five-minute walk, putting you two stops from the Duomo. What I didn’t expect was how walkable everything felt — La Scala is maybe fifteen minutes on foot, and the Quadrilatero shopping district is close enough that I found myself popping over between meetings. The staff was helpful with directions and restaurant recommendations, though don’t expect concierge-level service at this price point.

This place works because it gets the fundamentals right without trying to be something it’s not. You’re paying for a solid, well-located base in one of Milan’s most charming neighborhoods, not for amenities you probably won’t use anyway.   What could be improved: The shower area was a bit challenging as the bathtub is quite high and the glass partition a bit too short so the water would splash out with the use of the shower head. My husband and I are able bodied so we weren’t so bothered by it.

  About 25 minutes walk away from the station or 5 mins to the metro that takes you to the station. The air conditioning was great, though it didn’t reach the bedroom – luckily there was a fan available. Great to find water on arrival. Location was great, not too far away from the attractions and in a quiet area. Really close to the supermarket. We didn’t cook so couldn’t speak to any of the whitewater. It was a lovely stay overall!
  
  What could be improved: I didn’t not like it but place it has an older vibe to it. Probably wouldn’t recommend for people who struggle to step up onto things as the bath/shower would be difficult to get in/out if you weren’t mobile. Especially if it’s slippery after the shower.

  Really cute apartment with air-con and lift. Beds are comfortable. The host is very nice and helpful with fast response time. The apartment is about 5 mins walk from metro station (all exits have no lift or escalator).
  
  What could be improved: The bathroom has no where to hang the clothes. The glass on the bathtub looks very dangerous. Air-con is a bit noisy. Living room is quite dark at night (not enough lights).
