Hotel Fenice Overview
First Impressions
Hotel Fenice sits right on Corso Buenos Aires — and honestly, that’s half the appeal right there. This three-star place doesn’t try to be something it’s not, but it gets the fundamentals so right that you’ll find yourself recommending it to friends. The entrance feels more boutique than chain, with staff who actually seem happy to see you walk through the door.
Location That Actually Matters
You know what I love about this spot? You’re literally on one of Milan‘s best shopping streets, but you’re not paying those insane city center hotel prices. Corso Buenos Aires stretches for over a kilometer with every shop you can imagine — I mean, we’re talking about one of Europe’s longest pedestrian shopping areas here. The Porta Venezia metro stop is maybe a three-minute walk, so getting to the Duomo or anywhere else is actually easier than from some of those “centrally located” places that cost twice as much.
The Room Experience
The rooms are what I’d call “smart small” — they’ve clearly thought about how to make limited space work without feeling cramped. My room had this great little desk setup by the window, perfect for planning your day or just people-watching the shopping chaos below. The bathroom surprised me too; newer fixtures and one of those rainfall showers that actually has decent water pressure (you’d be amazed how often hotels get this wrong).
Neighborhood Character
Here’s something the guidebooks don’t tell you — this area comes alive in the evening when the shops close and locals head to the aperitivo spots. There’s this fantastic little restaurant called Da Giacomo just around the corner that serves some of the best risotto I’ve had in Milan, and the hotel staff actually know about places like this. During the day, you’ve got everything from Zara to local boutiques, plus that amazing vintage market on Saturdays that most tourists never find.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
Look, Hotel Fenice isn’t going to wow you with a rooftop pool or marble lobbies, but it delivers exactly what a good Milan base should: comfort, location, and value that makes sense. The 8.4 rating tells the real story — guests leave genuinely satisfied because their expectations were not just met but slightly exceeded. It’s the kind of place where you spend your time exploring the city rather than hanging around the hotel, which is sort of the point when you’re in Milan, isn’t it?

Reviews of Hotel Fenice
It was a very nice property, and should we return to Milan, we would stay again. – Sherri from United States – 18 November 2025 (8/10)
For a smaller size room, I thought the placement of built in furnishings and fixtures was maximized to make the space exceptionally functional for its size. Benches to rest your luggage, good closet and clothes hanging space, well placed hooks for hanging towels and coats, functional design of bathroom, etc. The bed was comfortable too. We really appreciated the functionality of having thought out how two travelers with luggage, coats, etc. can neatly stay for several nights in a hotel room that wasn't especially generous in size.
Nice hotel, decent location – Nigel from United Kingdom – 15 November 2025 (7/10)
Staff very helpful. Breakfast very good. Location quite close to centre and next to metro
What could be improved: Room a bit small and near a main roadVery good hotel. Very nice staff – Duplan from Switzerland – 8 November 2025 (9/10)
The location. The very nice staff. The room. The breakfast. The cleanliness.
What could be improved: The noise from other roomsGreat value for money, perfect location, close to all shops , breakfast is perfect and staff are wonderful. – Sabrina from Italy – 4 November 2025 (8/10)
Very central, breakfast was really nice , staff were polite and professional
What could be improved: Carpet in the hallway, very thin walls, curtains too thick and dark to leave closedExcellent customer service esp by Mauro. Keep it up! – Raquel from United States – 3 November 2025 (9/10)
Mauro, the receptionist has the best customer service. I was running late to my 'Last Supper’ Tour when I arrived at the hotel. He greeted me w/ a smile and let me leave my luggage so I wouldn’t be late to my tour and had a late check in. Thank you for being considerate and kind.
What could be improved: It has a great location, next to metro and restaurants but a bit noisy at nighttime.Great location for the sites, with friendly staff and a great breakfast – Timothy from United Kingdom – 24 October 2025 (9/10)
