Hotel Mercure Milano Solari Overview
First Impressions
Hotel Mercure Milano Solari sits in one of those spots where you know you’re somewhere special the moment you step outside. I mean, you’re in the Navigli district — that’s the canal area everyone raves about, and honestly, the buzz is real. The hotel itself has that modern four-star polish without feeling too corporate, which I appreciated after dealing with some soulless chain properties elsewhere.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying here: you’re actually in the heart of Milan’s most vibrant nightlife area, but the hotel manages to stay surprisingly quiet. The Navigli canals are literally a few minutes’ walk away, and trust me, that’s where you want to be for dinner and drinks. During the day, you can easily hop on the metro (Porta Genova is right there) and be at the Duomo in maybe 15 minutes.
The Room Experience
My room was what I’d call thoughtfully designed — nothing groundbreaking, but everything worked exactly as it should. The bed was properly comfortable, and the bathroom had one of those rain showers that actually delivers decent pressure. What struck me was the attention to small details, like having enough outlets near the bed and blackout curtains that genuinely block out the light from the busy street below.
Dining & Amenities
The restaurant downstairs serves solid Italian fare, though honestly, with all the incredible options in Navigli, I only ate there once for breakfast. Speaking of which — the breakfast spread is pretty comprehensive, with local pastries alongside the usual international options. There’s also a small fitness area if you need to work off all that amazing Milanese food, and the parking situation is sorted if you’re driving (though I wouldn’t recommend it in this part of the city).
Why Guests Love It
You know what really sets this place apart? It’s that sweet spot between being in the action and having a peaceful base to return to. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood — they gave me recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps. Plus, the whole Navigli experience is right at your doorstep: aperitivo by the canals, late-night gelato runs, and that authentic Milan vibe you can’t get staying near the main train station. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re actually living in the city, not just visiting it.

What could be improved: NothingA great stay in great hotel and a marvellous experience in Milan – Michelle from United Kingdom – 5 September 2025 (9/10)
Staff were friendly and kind. I liked the size of the room, huge bed was comfortable, the balcony was nice to get some air and drink my coffee. Bathroom was very clean and towels adequate. The tv had no channels for news etc, we used our mobile phones anyway and free WiFi for updates.
What could be improved: May be a few snacks in the fridge, some milk for our tea and coffee as missing but it wasn’t a huge problem. All good – Marius from South Africa – 17 August 2025 (8/10)

Excellent location close to the Navigli canal & around 30 minutes walk to some of the main attractions.
What could be improved: The bar wasn’t open the whole time we were there. Breakfast wasn’t busy but the staff were constantly on top of you taking plates away making you feel like you had to rush.Great location in Milan – Diego from Saudi Arabia – 26 February 2025 (7/10)
Super spacious apartment. Very helpful staff. Close to a train station and walking distance to the Naviglio area
