House in the city center-Casa nel centro della città sits on Via Giovanni Ricordi in a residential pocket of Milan that honestly feels more like where locals actually live than where tourists usually end up. The building itself is pretty typical for this part of the city — nothing fancy, but solid and unpretentious. You know what struck me first? How quiet it was for being so close to everything, which in Milan is actually kind of rare.

The Neighborhood

This area around Porta Garibaldi is one of those spots that’s changing fast — you’ve got the business district within walking distance, but also these little cafés where you can still get an espresso for a reasonable price. There’s a Carrefour Express literally around the corner, which saved me more than once when I needed basics. The Porta Garibaldi train station is maybe a 15-minute walk, so getting to Malpensa or around Lombardy is actually pretty straightforward.

The Space

Look, this is a three-star place, so don’t expect marble bathrooms or anything like that. But the room I stayed in was clean, the bed was comfortable enough, and there was decent storage space — which matters when you’re living out of a suitcase. The kitchenette setup worked well for making coffee in the morning, though I wouldn’t plan on cooking elaborate meals. The WiFi was solid, which honestly can be hit-or-miss even in nicer places.

Getting Around

What I really appreciated was how walkable everything felt from here. The Corso Buenos Aires shopping street is close enough that you don’t need to think about transit, and if you want to hit the Navigli area for dinner, it’s a reasonable metro ride. Parking in this neighborhood is typical Milan chaos, so if you’re driving, just… well, good luck with that. The public transport connections are what really make this location work.

Why Guests Appreciate It

This place works because it gets the basics right without trying to be something it’s not. The staff was helpful when I needed directions, the place stayed clean during my stay, and the price point makes sense for what you get. It’s not going to wow anyone, but sometimes you just need a decent base in Milan that won’t eat your entire budget — especially if you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring the city anyway.

  Hôte prévenant et accueillant. Très bonne communication. L'appartement est bien placé, métro très proche, station bien desservie permettant de se rendre efficacement en tous points de la ville. Appartement spacieux même s'il n'y a pas de salon (canapés dans la cuisine), propre avec une literie confortable.Très bon rapport qualité prix pour un séjour en famille!
