Modernissimo Loft in Porta Romana, a 200m dalla Bocconi Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Modernissimo Loft in Porta Romana, a 200m dalla Bocconi, you immediately understand why this four-star property has such a strong following among couples. The sleek, contemporary design hits you right away — it’s that perfect blend of Italian style and modern functionality that you don’t always find in Milan. I mean, the name says it all, really. The space feels genuinely fresh and thoughtfully designed, not just another cookie-cutter hotel trying to look trendy. This four-star loft combines sophisticated aesthetics with practical comfort, making it an ideal choice for discerning travelers seeking authentic Milan experiences.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location is probably the biggest selling point here. You’re literally 200 meters from Bocconi University, which puts you in one of Milan’s most vibrant areas without the tourist chaos of the Duomo district. The Porta Romana neighborhood has this authentic Milanese energy — you know, actual locals grabbing coffee and heading to work, not just people taking selfies. It’s close enough to the city center that you can walk to major attractions, but far enough out that you feel like you’re experiencing real Milan life. The proximity to cultural landmarks and local dining venues makes this location particularly appealing for extended stays.
The Space
The loft itself is surprisingly spacious for Milan standards. The room design makes clever use of every inch — there’s actually breathing space, which anyone who’s stayed in European city centers will appreciate. The modern furnishings aren’t just for show either; everything feels functional and well-thought-out. You get that minimalist aesthetic without sacrificing comfort, and the natural light streaming in really makes the space feel alive during the day. High ceilings and open floor plans enhance the sense of freedom and relaxation.
Practical Considerations
What I really appreciated was how well-equipped everything is for longer stays. The kitchenette area is actually usable (not just decorative), which is perfect if you want to grab fresh ingredients from the local markets and cook something simple. The Wi-Fi is solid — important if you’re working remotely or just trying to plan your days around the city. And honestly, the fact that couples consistently rate the location so highly tells you something about the romantic potential of the area, especially in the evenings when the neighborhood comes alive. The apartment also features premium bedding and climate control for year-round comfort.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels genuinely connected to Milan’s contemporary culture rather than its tourist version. The property sits in that sweet spot where you’re close to everything important but still in a neighborhood with character. You can walk to Navigli for aperitivo, catch the metro easily for shopping in the Quadrilatero, or just explore the local cafes and shops that make Porta Romana feel like a real community. It’s the kind of place where you actually feel like you’re living in Milan for a few days, not just visiting it. Guests frequently praise the restaurant options nearby and the convenient access to public transportation.
Milan’s apartments welcome long stays with terrace views, museum access, and bike paths to hidden Leonardo da Vinci sites.

Reviews of Modernissimo Loft in Porta Romana, a 200m dalla Bocconi
Superb – Joanne from United Kingdom – 8 October 2025 (9/10)
Brilliant location. Comfortable and modern
What could be improved: No ventilation due to windows being high up.Nice but a few things could have been better – Jennifer from United Kingdom – 27 March 2025 (7/10)
The location is great, walking distance to most places. It's clean and lovely spacious apartment.
What could be improved: There was no headboard on the bed? It was a big gap from the wall so we couldn't relax in bed after a long day walking about. Which wasn't very comfortable. Also there was no-where to store our suitcases on day of departure. So we had to lug all our luggage 20 minute walk away to a locker which you had to pay for.Good – Roberta from Sweden – 24 October 2024 (7/10)
The apartment was nicely furnished, new. It was close to the center, about 15-20 minutes walk. The staff was friendly.
What could be improved: The apartment is in the basement of a block of flats, the noise outside and the cars are very loud as if you were sitting with the window open. In front of the window every night there was a man sleeping there, which created discomfort and insecurity. Its nice – Ali from Canada – 18 October 2024 (9/10)
The style and the facilities
What could be improved: The location on booking is not correct it shows the roundabout with the old building as the location i hope they can fix itPleasant – Carla from Spain – 28 July 2024 (6/10)
The property was very clean it has everything we need, the location was great it was near the metro and tram.
What could be improved: Maybe it was just us but the electricity went off in the house we tried contacting the host to fix it, but they told us we have to do it ourselves so we had to get out of the apartment to the parking basement it was dark and as foreigners to the country we didn’t know what to look for, they told us that it’s easier for us to look it up ourselves that them explaining it, they tried to help us but there was no signal down stairs, i don’t think that was appropriate for us to do, it was no a great experience for us.Very good – Michail from Greece – 23 July 2024 (8/10)
I liked the apartment, it was comfy and the neighbours I met were very polite
What could be improved: I didn’t like that the window didn’t cover the noise of the street and the building had an weird smellAbsolutely fabulous! – Gillian from United Kingdom – 11 July 2024 (9/10)
Beautiful place in a fabulous location. Close to the city centre and airport, tram and train station. Really enjoyable stay 😍
What could be improved: Everything was lovely!Generally we had a good stay. – Maryam from Australia – 28 June 2023 (7/10)
The cleanliness was good , the bed was comfortable, and the room provided more space than we had anticipated. The location was ok.
What could be improved: The room was situated on the lower ground floor, and unfortunately, it lacked basic kitchen amenities such as a kettle, toaster, microwave, and essential condiments like salt, pepper, and oil. However, we did provide feedback to the owner, recommending the inclusion of these items for the convenience of future travelers.Very good – Sally from Germany – 14 June 2023 (8/10)
the location is quite close to the Duomo, 20 minutes walk and easy accessible by tram. the apartment is underground and it was clean and nice. it is big enough for those who only wants to sleep there. there is also an equipped kitchen. The apartment is easy accessible by code.
What could be improved: shower had a problem, its broken and the water doesn’t go through the drainage. so we made a mess in the whole bathroom everytime we showergood customer service and very modern apartment right next to a tram service and very central location. would stay again – Lucy from United Kingdom – 16 April 2023 (8/10)
